Q:I purchased one of these and installed without problem (except the template was off by ⅛ inch). On this first product the outward tip of wall plate for the pivoting rotates. Decided to put one in my other bathroom but the tip of wall plate for pivoting arm was stationary although it does have a screw but I cannot release it so if I bolt this down it will not rotate. With pandemic, couldn't return now so ordered another shipped to home-- same thing with replacement, doesn't pivot and screw is much too tight to loosen. Are these both defective? Was the first one the defective item? Instructions do not mention loosening a screw on back of wallplate. I had not looked at the back of first pivoting arm wall plate to see mechanism of rotation so don't know if an adjustment is needed or if I received 2 defective items. Thank you, this is very frustrating. i don't want to order another would like to get this to work!

A:  Hello, my name is Kassi with Kohler Co. I'd be happy to answer your question. The screw attached to the R37054 will need to be removed to able to attach it to the wall plate. The hex wrench does come with the faucet or you can also use a 0.095" hex wrench. Once the unit is attached to the wall, it will rotate. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 800-456-4537 Monday-Friday from 8AM-5PM CST. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Q:The pivoting arm of this toilet paper holder works itself loose. I used to have a tool to tighten it but have lost it and the arm falls off frequently. Is there a way to prevent this and/or get the tool to correct? I do like how it matches my Mistos faucets.

A:  Hi dave, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I am glad to answer your question. The toilet paper rod lifts up on the right side so that you can slide a new roll on. You can then push the rod back down to secure into place. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

Q:Looking to replace my current one which is attached to the cabinets near by. What is the distance of the hardware and how is it different? Need to be concerned about the re-mounting into my bathroom cabinets. Thanks.

A:  The open gap between the arms once mounted on the hardware is about 6 5/8". Here's a photo of the hardware for the pivoting arm. It's possible that the visibility of the old mounting remnants may be diminished in part by the roll of toilet paper once installed.

A:  Well, the directions seem poor because the pivot arm design is fatally flawed. I returned mine.

A:  I bought 3 of these units and had the same issue with rotating the arm up and down to replace the toliet paper. The challenge was that the screw in the back of the swing arm brackets were to tight and would not allow for movement of the arm. Once I loosed these, using a vise and an electric drill, it worked flawlessly. Not everyone has a vise, so I took the first one back to Home Depot and had the gentleman in the tool rental department loosen it for me. Just my thoughts. Also, the comment about the arm sticking out 1/16' away from the wall to prevent scratching... it does look goofy.

A:  Sorry. I don't have a video of the install. The installation was pretty straight forward, though. Use the template to drill the holes to make sure the spacing is correct. The rotating piece is on the left. It doesn't look like it rotates, but it does just fine when it is installed. Note that the rotating piece does not sit flush to the surface it is mounted on so that it doesn't rub when rotating. Looks a little goofy. Hope this helps.

Q:Is the stem in the swivel wall bracket supposed to swivel so that the arm can be raised from 3:00 to 12:00? Mine is tighter than a drum and will not.

A:  Yes. Mine rotates smoothly. No idea why yours doesn't. Sorry.

A:  I think you have to loosen the screw/bolt that runs the length of the pivot arm. However, there are no stops, so the arm is bound to work loose. Fatal design flaw.

A:  Actually the "stem" does NOT move. I went ahead and installed it, and it works perfectly. Please disregard all the information from the HD rep tomorrow, and just install -- 5 minutes, VOILA, it works :).

A:  I have exactly same problem with 2 holders. The one swivel/rotating bracket is so tight, it barely rotates even when I grip both parts with 2 separate, 10" pliers. I let some penetrating oil soak into the joint between the rotating pieces -- no effect. Tried loosening the screw that connects the rotating pieces and screw is so tight, the philips head starts to strip out (what did they do, use red super-strength loctite on the threads?!) I'm returning the holders.

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. This could be due to several factors, including: 1. Installation - Before the unit is installed, it will appear that the left bracket does not rotate. This is due to the product needing to be installed for proper leverage. It is necessary to use the provided template for proper spacing to make sure the arm rests properly on its stop, which is located on the right cover. I see a contributor wrote that he did not like the look of the gap between the arm and the bracket and indicated drilling 1/16" closer than the template. This could result in the arm being too tight against the bracket. 2. Initial resistance - Sometimes, it may take a few operations to loosen the arm from its initial assembly. 3. Bracket issue - In your case, since your arm is not moving, you may want to replace the bracket. The current bracket part number is 1150975. A faulty bracket is probably least likely, but please feel free to contact KOHLER customer service if needed. Sorry to hear about your issue, and thank you again.
