Q:You only can use it once?
      by|Apr 9, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello. Correct. Because a fire extinguisher is a safety feature that has to work fully when you need it, it can only be used once and then need to be either recharged if it is rechargeable or replaced if is not rechargeable. Since the price of recharging extinguishers can close to the price of buying a new disposable extinguisher and since hopefully you will only need to use an extinguisher once every 12 years if at all then many residential households opt to buy the disposable extinguishers that don't have to be replaced for 12 years instead of the rechargeables that have to be recharged every 6 years.

Q:Does this come with screws for the bracket?

        Answer This Question

A:  I don’t recall if it came with screws but most commons screws would fit. I used 2 self tapers for metal but you can use regular screws with anchors for indoors

        by|Apr 9, 2023

A:  Hello. The screws are missing intentionally because what screws and anchors you use depends on what kind of surface you are mounting the extinguisher on. There are too many different types of surfaces and applications our extinguishers are installed on and we don't want to have provided the wrong screws and anchors for your application and have things go wrong and we don't want to provide every type of screws and anchors and have you choose the wrong ones among the ones we provided. Please consult with a carpenter or handyman or other professional before choosing the appropriate screws and anchors.

A:  We carry a number of extinguisher that can be used anywhere extinguishers are required. Find out from your local fire codes and your local fire department or local authority requiring fire extinguishers exactly what kind of fire extinguishers you are required to have, what the UL rating of the extinguisher should be or how many pounds of extinguishing powder agent, whether it should be disposable or rechargeable, how many you are required to have, and where you are required to put them. Once you find this out, call us at 1-800-880-6788 and we can help you figure out what models meet your requirement.

Q:Can this fire extinguisher be stored in an unheated space (a garage, for example)?

                Answer This Question

A:  I have this extinguisher stored on an outdoor screen porch with a fire place. All I saw on the pamphlet was: UL requires the fire extinguisher to be able to withstand storage at 175 degrees without rupture. High temperatures will decrease the life of the elastomeric seals, so storage above 120 degrees will decrease the life of the fire extinguisher.Mar 5, 2021 And that if it rusts then it could become compromised. So I put it it in a covered location but it is exposed to cold temperatures. Fortunately , I have never had the need to actually use it!

A:  Its best to contact the manufacture. More info is needed example: how cold will the room get? It doesn't hurt to hang the unit instead of storing it. You can never go wrong having more protection then needed. Hopefully this help.
