The box for this shows 5lbs (see photo) of extinguisher chemicals. I'm assuming the 8.25lbs listed on the web site refers to the weight of the entire extinguisher. Other than that, it is what you would expect. Note that is not rechargeable (single use instead). The wall mounting clip is different than what I've seen before. It does not have a retaining ring that wraps around the extinguisher to make certain the extinguisher cannot be "bumped off the wall;" however, the clip design, with some simple testing on my part, seems to retain the extinguisher if it is lightly bumped. I've not tried to simulate someone walking into it. I prefer the type of clip with the retaining ring, just in case.

As I just had opportunity to use this to put out a fire from a recent 4th of July accident I can fully attest that it functions marvelously. There was a pine tree in my yard that was motivated to celebrate independence with 5 foot flames, by the quick action of my wife this was brought to the scene within seconds and quickly doused the flames, of course a hose was used for about a half hour after just to make sure no spark reignited the celebration. Only half of the contents were used, I am fully confident that this would easily put out any small fire in the house. I have a second in the bedroom should something start in the night, and after using this I feel confident that I would have enough discharge to clear a room on fire. It says recharge, but I will not trust a DIY recharged fire extinguisher in the next emergency, I plan to replace this immediately with the same product. Thanks to Kidde for saving the day.

Just bought it and got it home removed it from the box and the needle is at the red line. Can't trust that, so back to the store it is going.

One should always have one on hand and never have to us it. I'll let you know how it works after the fire.

It is just what we needed.

Purchased this extinguisher to be installed on an UTV. It is an emergency tool for the trail.

There were no mounting brackets. Had to go back and buy separately.

It is too big for my condo and I will return it for something smaller, it as soon as I can get to Home Depot.

The fire extinguishers were great gifts for my extended family. They all commented how they needed one.

We bought this to replace another one that was simply pretty old. I've never had to use one, so I can't say how effective it is fighting a fire. It came in excellent condition, great packaging, with no shipping damage. I like it has a pressure gauge so it can be easily checked for discharge. I had bought one on the internet, but the supplier lost the package, so I cancelled it and bought it directly from HD instead.

Rating this fire extinguisher at this time is impossible because the only thing that matters is that it shuts down a fire when I need it to. Hopefully, I will never need to know if it works or not. The reason I bought this is that the previous Kiddie extinguisher I had worked beautifully at stopping a wood stove fire and saved my house! I TRUST that Kiddie will work again if needed.

Well, it's only been a few weeks since I bought them. And, Thankfully, I haven't had a fire (yet), and I can't "test" them, or else they are useless thereafter, right?

I’m very familiar with this brand of extinguisher (s)…… and have had the experience of using one a few times over the years…. I have always carried one in my personal vehicle and have put out many car fires….never had one malfunction…….
