A: jwfstuff - Klean-Strip 1 qt. Varnish Maker and Painter's Naphtha will help clean up freshly dripped paint. A: Tish,
Unfortunately, the Klean-Strip® VM&P Naphtha can no remove a wood sealer. However, it can be used for a variety of other application, such as place of Paint Thinner for oil-based paint, varnish and enamel when a faster drying time is desired. However, this product has a variety of uses, it is not a stain remover. If you additional questions, please call our Klean Strip Helpline at 800-398-3892.

Answer This Question
A: Barry, we recommend using Klean-Strip Liquid Sandpaper to prepare surfaces for painting to increase the adhesion of new finishes to old.
by|May 12, 2020
A: By chance it might help, but I'd buy a product which is marketed as a deglosser. The deglosser works in a wide variety of situations.

Q:I placed a plastic protective cover on my wooden dining table. It created a moisture barrier and now the finish is awful. I don't have any white marks, but the top definitely needs some type of cleaning. Would this be the best product to try?

Answer This Question
A: I'm assuming that your plastic covering is a piece of Plexiglas and not a polyurethane coating. I put a glass top on a painted table and used clear (thin) rubber bumpers to keep the glass from sliding and also allow a small air gap. I suspect that humidity caused the damage to your table's finish. Naphtha may clean the surface, but I would try it in a small area first. There is no way that I know what your original finish is. You may need to refinish the table top.
I only use naphtha when making a batch of wipe-on poly. 2 parts oil-based poly, 1 part naphtha, and 1 part boiled linseed oil.

Answer This Question
A: Check the paint can for thinning recommended amount. It also depends on your method of paint application. I would expect that no more than a half pint of thinner per quart of paint.
