A:  To collect dust when your are doing a lot of drilling when using the Kreg K4 Pocket Hole System you can attach it to a vacuum system.

A:  Regarding: Dust collection? For what? When using this (or any) pocket hole jig the drilling creates sawdust / wood shavings. Even though sawdust is a normal part of woodworking, Kreg made it easier, they make an adapter (not included in this kit) that fits exactly on the K4 jig, and fits my Shopvac perfectly. (photo) In use after drilling about a dozen pocket holes I observed no sawdust or shavings had escaped. Prior to owning this adapter I was vacuuming after every few holes to keep the area clean, and keep it clear so the boards aligned properly. An additional benefit of using the vacuum adapter is when putting the board in place for the next hole the suction helps hold it while I set the clamp.

A:  When using this (or any other) pocket hole jig the wood shavings come out of the holes. When making several pocket holes, this is alot of sawdust..So after a few holes you may find yourself using a shop vac to clean it up, or blowing the saw dust out of the way to clamp the wood in place for the next hole... This kit did not come with the shop vac attachment, I bought it separately.. It fits perfectly and even after a dozen or so holes I saw no sawdust escape.. The side benefit is the suction helps hold the board in place while setting the clamp..

A:  This does accumulate a lot of sawdust, especially when drilling multiple holes. I don't have the dust collection adapter, but after seeing the mess it made I will probably buy the adapter. It just saves time during cleanup.

A:  Yes it does. I used mine on 2x4's on their side attached to 2x2's. My first cabinet.

A:  Yes, there are measurements on the base to adjust based on the size of lumber.

A:  It will work on dimensional 2 x 4 it really measures out to 1 1/2in x 3 1/2in. The max is 1 1/2in This a great jig
