A:  SmartKey Security is an added feature that allows only someone with the current working key to re-key the lock cylinder to a different key. Inserting the SmartKey learn tool and using a random key will not re-key the lock nor unlock the door. In addition, SmartKey technology protects against advanced break-in techniques, like picking and bumping. A:  The key can be used on either the exterior side or interior side to unlock the deadbolt.

A:  This model features SmartKey Security which allows you to re-key the lock yourself. You can purchase 4 deadbolts online and follow the SmartKey Re-Key steps for all deadbolts to work with one key. If you prefer to purchase in-store, you can check the boxes for a keyed alike number. Model # 96650-511 665 26D SMT CP RCAL RCS K6 comes in keyed-alike sets of six. Please see the yellow highlighted number on the bottom of the box for keyed-alike units.

A:  Our products are manufactured keyed alike units up to 6 boxes. The model number on the package would indicate the number of locksets that have the same key. The Smartkey technology also allows rekeying the lock at any time to the other Kwikset key but is not compatible with other brands.

A:  This model is compatible with a 2 1/8” diameter backset borehole and would not be compatible with a 1 ¾” diameter backset borehole.
