Q:can it be installed over a high gloss paint ceramic floor
by|Mar 12, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Normally when installing new flooring you will need to ensure the floor has been properly prepped. You can try and see if a few tiles will adhere, but we recommend the floors be stripped of any coating, polish, wax, and cleaning agents to help the product adhere correctly. For best results with the BaseCore Sicilian Blue we would recommend a skim coat of a gypsum-based product over the existing floor.

Q:Can these be used in a motor home over plywood underlayment?
by|Jan 3, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes, as long as the motor home has an HVAC system and the plywood underlayment is 1/4 inch of interior grade plywood, preferably a new piece, and has no waxes or coatings on it. The subfloor should be leveled, straight and flat. We recommend trying a test area in the corner of the room and letting the product adhere for 24-48 hours to ensure it will work for your environment.

Q:Is it a good idea to use in a basement? I want to stick either directly to the concrete floor or over Quiet Walk's Acoustical Underlayment with Vapor Barrier for All Vinyl Plank Flooringer

Answer This Question
A: Yes, the product is intended for basements with an HVAC system or some sort of temperature control, and if installing over concrete, a moisture test should be done prior to installation, as well as making sure the concrete is leveled, flattened, and straight, otherwise, an additional underlayment like contact paper would be needed. I would advise also doing a test piece in the corner to ensure that the material will stick to the concrete before trying anything else as well.

Q:I removed the old vinyl from a closet floor & it is rather uneven. I plan to sand & prime it but wonder if these tiles will be appropriate since the subfloor may not be perfect. I bought some tiles that will not work and am looking for some that will.

Answer This Question
A: Try your best to flatten/smooth/level the subfloor to your best ability, we recommend a 1/4 inch plywood to be secured to the subfloor and the BaseCore can be installed on top of that, to ensure the BaseCore can stick and won't lift due to unevenness. Please ensure that the plywood is clean and flat, with no waxes or coatings on it as well. Try using a few pieces for a test first to make sure it holds, and if yes, proceed with installation.

Q:Darker colors.. does this yellow when exposed to rubber mats, tires?
by|Jul 15, 2023

Answer This Question
A: While we do not recommend our BaseCore line for this type of request and would prefer a glue down like our GlueCore line. Yes, the darker colors should hide the yellow/rubber tires marks better than the lighter colors.
