A:  You wired it wrong. Black wire goes to the brass screw.

        by|Jul 14, 2021

A:  There is supposed to be a simple wiring diagram sticker on the box somewhere or an instruction paper in the box. I also had an unfortunate experience like that which costs a lot of $$$. If no diagram is present, that is worth delaying enough to contact the manufacturer for help. I had another brand which did not use brass for HOT and SILVER for neutral so this complicated things a lot.

A:  I just found out from the HD 800 number that is does NOT require 220.

                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  This is NOT for 220 volts. 220 volts will ruin your trailer.

A:  No this is Not a 220 volt device, Its a 30 amp 120 volt device, which connects to a 30 amp, single pole breaker in your breaker box.

A:  Hi MS, This unit is designed to furnish 120Volts 30 Amps, not 220. 220 would require a 4th. blade and slot in the outlet itself. I wired mine with 3 wire Romex from a 30Amp breaker, (black wire for power), (white wire for neutral or return), and (green wire for earth ground bar in your panel). Hope this helps,

A:  Why would you use #6AWG when #10AWG is rated for 30amps? You can use #6 if you can get it to fit in the box safely (and you probably can) but why the extra work and expense on the wire when your max. load is 30A?

                      by|Sep 22, 2020

A:  Yes, but I don't see any reason (load related) for #6 wire, unless you are a long distance from the power source.

A:  Home Depot sells them for about $13. Just make sure to use the illustration of this (female end) receptacle, and it should be rated for 125 volts/ 30 amps

A:  HD has a 30 amp male right angle plug (4 wire) that I purchased with the box and it works perfect. You will need the right angle design on the plug so you can close the cover.

A:  Look for a male plug that says 120 volt, 30 amps. Should be easy to find at Home Depot and when you get home turn off the power to the receptacle and verify that the plug fits.

A:  No. If you need two 30 amp outlets you will need two 30 amp breakers and separate wire for each circuit. If you run conduit from the electrical panel to the outlets you could run wire for two outlets in the same conduit and drop a tee for the first outlet and than go on to the second outlet if thats what you mean.

A:  Only rated for the 30amps, so you should run 2 home runs.

                              by|Jul 17, 2021

A:  Only if wired in parallel. If you do two in parallel only use one outlet at a time so you have enough power for the load.
