Q:I've got one of these installed in my line and partially embedded in concrete, I need to swap out the 1 1/2" line for a 2" - would I be able to use a socket saver to remove that built-in insert from the 1 1/2" hub to accept a 2" pipe?

A:  Thank you for your inquiry on the NIBCO 4 in. x 4 in. x 1-1/2 in. PVC DWV 45-Degree All Hub Wye Fitting. This is not something we can recommend doing. We have never done any testing with a “socket saver” nor can we confirm removing the 1-1/2 in. hub molded material will leave a 2 in. hub that would work with the larger 2 in. piping and still meet the needed wall thickness/dimensional requirements.     A:  Thank you for your inquiry on the NIBCO 4 in. x 4 in. x 1-1/2 in. PVC DWV 45-Degree All Hub Wye Fitting. This fitting will accept Sch 40 PVC piping. Average Outside diameter on the 4 in. nominal piping would be 4.500 in. and average OP on the 1 1/2 in. is 1.9000 in. If you need a WYE using one 2 in. inlet and two 1 1/2 in. outlets, we would recommend the 4810RR 2 X 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 HXHXH 45 WYE PVC.
