Q:Can I use this for insulating my roof which has 2x6's ?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Needs2BeRight, the R-38 Pink Next Gen Insulation is 12.5" thick. Compressing this down to 5.5" would reduce the R-value to approximately a R-22. Also with that much compression there is a possibility of having issues with the drywall. Thank you for your inquiry!

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Patricia, Owens Corning manufactures glass fiber insulation products by extruding molten glass into a fibrous form. These fibers are bonded together with a cured binder. Neither the glass fiber nor the binder can be considered a food source. Because of the porous nature of the product, insects and vermin can enter and maneuver through fiber glass insulation. There are no chemical additives in our products intended to repel insects or vermin, but because it is not a food source, insects typically do not nest in it and vermin are not attracted to it. Thank you for your inquiry!

            Answer This Question

A:  Check with building code. But I believe 15min thermal barrier meant must be covered, like a rated drywall, plywood etc that matches or exceeds the 15 min fire span in case it happened.

A:  Hello Bern, The facing acts a vapor retarder, however, the facing is flammable and needs to be covered by a 15 minute thermal barrier such as 1/2" drywall. Thank you for your inquiry!

A:  Hello JayS, Product availability of the R-49 would be based on your location. Please contact your local Home Depot to verify if it is an option for your area. Another option would be to layer two products to increase the R-value such as R-19 and R-30. Thank you for your inquiry!
