Q:Why would one use these foam strips over the plastic version?

A:  The plastic closure strips are required for the installation of the panels to ensure the corrugations maintain their form; they are required. Foam closure would be required at ridge and end walls to seal the roof from the elements.

            A:  I recall the product mentioned using a certain type of caulking to hold the foam. Home Depot pro desk should guide you when you read what contents should be in that caulk. I did it so long ago, I cannot recall the brand I used
