A: I haven't had mine long enough to form an opinion about the plastic container. It's been about a month, and so far so good. I do agree that having the option to purchase replacement components would be certainly appreciated.

A: After I've filled it, I hold the little button on the side and push the top down. While it's not tight, the top stays on when the feeder is hung.

A: There's a spring loaded button that locks it. It grips the steel cable preventing the top from lifting. Be sure to make sure that you remove any cable slack inside before you hang it.

Q:If this feeder is metal, does it get hot to the touch? Wouldn’t want a bird’s little feet getting burned on this!

A: I have not noticed it getting hot, when I take the top off to add seeds. Ours hangs under the shade of the leaves. I guess you could wrap pipe-cleaners around the little rale.

A: Mine never has, as far as I know. And it's been hanging in the sun for several years now. The metal parts are thin enough, and reflective enough, that it simply doesn't store heat.

Answer This Question
A: I have no idea. We bought a tubular feeder after giving up on this one. No birds came near it. Can't keep up with the birds at the tubular feeder. But I have to note, I didn't know dried mealworms ate anything. (Just couldn't resist).

A: Although we haven't used dried mealworms, we have used a mix of items---seed mix includes typical seed, fruit and nuts. All worked great! I would think this feeder would also work for dried mealworms.
by|Jun 13, 2020
A: We do not recommend using dried mealworms within this feeder.

Answer This Question
A: The only ways I know of would be a: Hang it on a shepherd's hook with a Slinky, or B: hang it from a cable strung through loose pipes, between two stationary objects. Squirrels are smart and relentless.

A: Squirrels are expert jumpers, so placement of a feeder is the number one way to help deter them. We suggest hanging the feeder at least 6 feet from the ground and 10-20 feet away from launching points such as fences, rooftops, tree branches, etc.
by|Jun 8, 2020
A: we hung it on a pole away from branches and put a dome on top of it.
by|Jul 7, 2020
A: I don't have this problem. I hang it from my patio cover.
by|Jun 12, 2020
A: I also bought a squirrel baffel (don't know if that is correct spelling) that hangs over the feeder and that really works!
