A: It has a thermostat. To setup, on cold day, set it to Max. When comfortable, turn down till it goes off by itself. Leave dial alone.Burner will go on and off to keep you comfortable. Simple. Turn off pilot during summer. Back on in cold weather. Running pilot is cheap. A wall thermo, no. Don’t need it. You bend over once to set, or have grand daughter bend for you. Set it. Forget it.

Q:Can I hook this up and block off a pre existing chimney? Old one died and was vented.

Answer This Question
A: Yes. It may not fit into your chimney opening but you can put outside - I did and just stuffed insulation up the chimney so no draft would get in - but if you chimney is closed off on top then you won't have too. Mine is open not much but enough. I like this enough but I am not so happy as the older models that had the knobs on the top. Much easier to use. But it works well.

A: This gas stove is vent-free. Hook it up to pre-existing gas line as long as there are no leaks in line, close vent to your old chimney. Maybe blocking it would prevent from losing heat. I've had my stove a few yrs. on the chilly nights or days I set mine on number 3 and if it gets to warm it will auto shut off then turn back on . This stove replaced a very old wall heater in my living-room.

Q:Will this stove operate above 8,000 Ft or will the oxygen depletion sensor prohibit it from operating at that altitude?

Answer This Question
A: This heater is tested up to 5,000 ft. above sea level. We have had customers with success up to 8,000 ft. but we cannot comment on the performance or efficiency past 5,000 ft. -GHP Group Customer Support
by|Dec 9, 2019
A: The manual say 5000 feet is the maximum for dependable operation. My guess is it will get a little erratic at high altitude.

A: Yes, the heater will produce heat from it's fuel sorce, but remember, the optional blower, if purchased, requires electricity to run, and will not blow the out the front. I still recommend purchasing the blower unit to use when electricity is available.
