            Heat swell, controls are inconvenient
This gas stove is dual fuel capable, so you can use natural gas or a 100 pound propane tank for fuel. The adapter for propane is not included so you’ll have to purchase that separately. Also not included as a blower which will make the stove a lot more efficient for warming a room. The metal of the housing itself is sturdy and thick, the door metal I feel could be a better quality. My one complaint with the unit is the same as many others, and that is that the controls are located very inconveniently below the stove. He definitely have to get down on the ground to make any changes, which would be difficult for people with mobility issues. Otherwise, for the money, it’s a good stove, which we hope all asked for quite a while.

Great way to heat a room quickly or in our case convert a 3-season room into four.
We have completed the build of the 20,000 BTU Vent-Free Dual Fuel Gas Stove in just a few minutes, with just the installation of the 4 legs and insertion of the battery for lighting the pilot. Once that was complete, I turned it over to the professionals to connect our external propane tank to the propane connection on the back of the unit. Yes, the unit is configured already to support dual fuel technology and we decided on propane because we also run a line to our external pizza oven so it just made sense. Anyway, within a couple of hours we were up and running with clean heat in our 12x12 three-season (now four) Sunroom. The last step which I completed was the installation of the provided logs. The process was really simple because each log piece was numbered and the instructions (written very well) layout out where each log had to be positioned. This unit which measures H 25.47 in, W 23.50 in, D 12.99 in is designed to heat a space of 700 square feet quite effectively, so our 12x12 Sunroom was warm within just 10 minutes. What I found very interesting was the 2 separate rows of heating flames to give you a warm comfortable feel (see picture). During my initial use of the fireplace, I did notice that the flame was the same height when I had the setting on 1 or 5 (max) so I have to continually look at the reason for that and call customer service if necessary. Great way to heat a room quickly or in our case convert a 3 season room into four.

            A grand solution
The Pleasant Hearth - Pleasant Hearth 23.5 in. Compact 20,000 BTU Vent-Free Dual Fuel Gas Stove is a wonderful solution to our heating problem caused by faulty installation of our HVAC/GasPac. The engineering and manufacturing is unique in the industry and facilitates the foolproof installation. It is the only product on the market that we know where there are separate engineered systems to accommodate either natural or propane attachments. We live in a small community where the town has piped propane. The complete installation to operation took less than a half day without any engineering or highly expensive specialists. The cost savings we expect from transitioning from electric space heaters is important in these economic times. Last night was the first comfortable time for quite awhile - the heater was flawless. We highly recommend this product without reservation.

Higher quality than I expected at this price point.
Was very surprised when this arrived at how heavy the unit is. Assembly was straightforward, and I was impressed with the thickness of all the stamped steel (the legs are 1/8 inch thick!) and the entire unit is pushing 70 pounds. I'm setting this up to burn propane, so I set it up outside with a barbecue tank just to burn off any odors from paint or the ceramic logs before I permanently install it in the house (I need to get a 100 pound tank and plumb it to an unused closed off hearth). When I did my outside test fire, I was impressed by how much heat was immediately thrown forward. Read the manual - the unit is set up internally for propane from the factory and you have two marked inlets on the back, both plugged (you need a 5/16 hex wrench to remove a plug). Then make your gas hookup. There are two pilot jets, but only one or the other will light. Once lit turn the gas knob to low and the burner tube ignites. And here is the one design fail - the position of the controls on this stove are extremely hard to see and access without getting down on your hands and knees. I really think they could have moved the control panel farther forward. Anyway, this should serve you well anywhere you need a little extra heat and can get a gas line run.

This is an excellent way to eliminate heat loss from old unnecessary chimneys
We have a wood-burning stove in our kitchen. Its mostly for looks but it is actually functional. But there were three problems with it: 1. Whenever we do use it, no one in our family likes going outside, for wood in the winter, so we tend not to use it. 2. When we do use it, you can smell it throughout the house even though it's vented properly. 3. Whether we use it or not, much of out heat escapes the house through the chimney so we tend to just keep the flue damper closed. We say the ventless gas stove and decided to give it a try. That way, we don't have to fetch wood, we wont smell burning wood and we can keep the flue damper closed all the time and not loose heat. We just recently got this stove and we're going to be installing it as soon as the gas company can install a dedicated line to it but I wanted to post some pictures before it's totally assembled. It comes in a fairly small box because the legs and logs are stored inside the heat exchanger during shipping. This not only makes the package smaller and easier to handle but it lessen the change of damaging the product during shipping. Setup is a snap and the rest of it is up to the gas company.

            Great Features and Functional
I did not get this to heat the home (or any specific area within the home). I got this as an emergency backup heat source should the main boiler fail. That being said, this gas heater, at 20,000 BTUs, will heat the lower level of the house and keep pipes from freezing. I heat with propane and the Pleasant Hearth will run on propane (or natural gas, if that's what you're using). AND, I LOVE that it doesn't need electricity to ignite the gas (it has a battery assisted ignition system). The unit has a small footprint so I can set it up and leave it (unlike the torpedo-type heater I currently have as a back-up and need to haul to/from the garage if/when needed). I didn't get the optional blower fan because I'm not heating the entire house, but I can see where that might be quite useful to keep temperatures uniform throughout the room. Another feature I like is the thermostat along with the overheat safety shutdown feature. Set it and forget it? Well, don't forget, but it is nice to have those two features.

            Nice
This rugged build duel fuel gas fireplace is a beautiful addition to any space. Even with the setting all the way up the outside cabinet stayed cool to the touch. This duel fueled gas fireplace puts out some serious heat without an interior mounted blower but one is available for additional cost. This unit will run on natural gas or propane. Had two pilot lights depending on the fuel source. Construction was as simple as following the simple to understand instructions and mounting four legs on bottom and placing the firebox logs in proper order and place front grate back into position and it’s ready to go. Note that you must properly connect the gas feed on the back and none of the connections are included. Mine is connected with 3/8 inch black pipe to heater than a bell reducer 3/8 to 1/2 then 1/2 pipe to shutoff 1/2 valve to 3/8 flared fitting which the propane line with regulator is connected to. I connected mine to a 20 pound propane tank like you use for a grill. Works well great as an accent piece for my patio with the added benefit of heating the space.

So so but smaller than what I was expecting
Was hoping for something better but just doesnt look right where i neee to put it. The fireplace does not come with a gas line connection so that certainly was disappointing. The unit is significantly smaller than I anticipated. On my wall it looks so small and out if place ill certainly have to rethink it's placement. It says it heats up to 700sqft which would fit my placement in basement but doesn't look right. I wanted to try it out using a propane tank but it states in the disclaimer not to use with less than 100 lb propane tank. I wanted to try it out prior than connecting to the main gas in the house but didn't. I feel the unit will scratch very easily too. My wife loves the way it looks but I really wish it would have been bigger.

            Basement heat
I purchased the Pleasant Hearth 23.5 in. Compact 20,000 BTU Vent-Free Dual Fuel Gas Stove For my basement workshop that gets a little cold in the winter, and I can say that it heats up nicely were I am comfortable and feel toasty, My wife does crafts in our basement and now she is happy with this stove, The only drawback to this stove is that the control is on the bottom and kind of a pain to a get to but once you set it to the desired temp. then let it do its thing.

            Dual gas fireplace
This is a real nice dual gas fireplace and the way it is either gas makes it so easy to install no changing orfaces all you need to do is put the selected gas in the proper inlet. I have never seen one so easy. Requires very minimal assembly basically put the legs on. Only complaint is the rubber on the feet don't want to stay in place but setting still on the floor should not be a problem. I like this product and highly recommend it.
