The inside will always allow lock and unlock, it does have a night latch to prevent key from being used if engaged so be sure of its position before closing the door.

A:  Yes, this door does auto lock. Unless you slip the switch to hold the look open/close it will always be in a "locked" position.

A:  Yes, you can open with the knob and hold down the light ck button, otherwise it's always in locked position when door closes.

A:  Yes as you close your door the latch will engage with the catch. The small button is to hold the latch in the retracted position (unlock) so you can go in and out of the door without it locking until you release the latch to the "latch out" position for locking. I think this is the lock you are looking for.
