                A:  Thank you for your inquiry. The contour gauge will not "lock" into place however the tool easily forms and holds the shapes for a more precise template.

                  Q:None of these gauges seem to list a specification of the maximum depth it can adjust to. I bought one that looked very deep, but only could cover about 1.5" of depth change. I am contouring over a rock fireplace and easily have some 4" deep areas I need to profile, so the gauge needs to be able to cover that change in the distance the fingers move. So how much will this gauge profile in depth?
