MAXIMUM DEPTH 1-1/4"
This Empire 6" Contour Gauge model 2574 has nice thin, strong & rigid metal teeth, no lock but good tension and holds the shape. But, the stated depth you can measure is inaccurate. The Product Details state, "3-1⁄4 in. probe length will read a 1-7⁄8 in. maximum pattern depth." The total length of each tooth is indeed 3-1/4", but the bar in the middle is about 1-7/16" wide, and when the teeth on one side are all the way out, they leave about 5/8" sticking out on the "other" side, and as far as I can measure, the MAXIMUM DEPTH YOU CAN ACTUALLY MEASURE IS 1-1/4". (My dog ate the other 1/16", apparently.) There's nothing wrong with this, but you should know in case what you have is deeper than this.

Makes replicating shapes very easy!
When you want to really replicate different curves and lines, this contour guide makes it very easy. I used this to match lines and angles on door frames when I recently installed flooring. No more need for guessing and going back and forth on cuts.

I purchased this contour gauge for a flooring project. It worked really good for the curves that I needed to cut. My only issue was the flex was tight and the middle bar moves around a bit more than I would like. I would how ever recommend this tool, especially for the price.

Excellent for transferring detail as small as 0.03 inches !
This tool is built solid with all metal construction.Soon as you pick it up you can feel it. Because of the thin blade design, 0.03/ 1/32 inches, its sure to capture fine contours and details. Its very simple to use too. Just place and push the back of it on a flat surface and then push the front firmly against whatever contour or pattern you want to capture. Now you'll have the outline to trace on to your material to cutout. It's that easy.
The blades are 0.03 or 1/32 inches or 0.85 mm. thick and can reach to a depth of 1.8 or 1 13/16 inches or 47 mm. And piece up to 6 inches wide!

It is not deep enough,or long enough. As well as the pins are not stable in the frame; allowing them to lean left or right. Wich distorts the outline of your contour.
