Q:Is the app on a smart phone the only way to control temp and humidity settings? In my case I do not need, want, or have a smart phone. Any chance there is an accessible web-interface via wi-fi. Also after temp and humidity setting are set, does the adapter need to remain plugged into my router to continue working or can it be unplugged until I want to check/change setting another time?

Answer This Question

A:  This fan requires you have Wi-Fi in your home for you to be able to adjust the fan. Unfortunately it sounds like this fan will not work for you. However you may want to consider our regular fan with the 110 hybrid adapter. It’s factory preset and takes care of many of our customers needs.

Q:What is the optional110-Volt Hybrid Solar Adapter for this 40-Watt solar attic fan, Remington SolarModel # SF110V4.0471?

    Answer This Question

A:  The 110 V adapter will allow you to use your house power to make the fan run at night when the sun is down. It’s optional because you don’t have to have it since it will run during daylight hours. However if your attic is still hot and the sun is down it will roll over to your house power and run until your attic temperature is 80° or less.

Q:I am planning to buy this item, home depot does installation and what is the average cost? Do I need the 110 volt hybrid solar adapter for the fan?

          Answer This Question

A:  You will need to contact Home depot directly for pricing. Some customers also find a handyman on craigslist to do the install as well if you are a price conscious. The 110 V adapter is definitely not required. It’s a great option if you want the fan to run at night if the temperature in attic is still above 80° but the sun is down.

Q:Also, is it ok to be installed near already existing static vents on the roof? Is there a distance the static vents should be from the unit for it to work well?

            Answer This Question

A:  Wi-Fi will work fine. To answer your second question it’s good practice to keep power vent elation as far away as you can from a static that. Without seeing your roof or attic I would say if it’s less than six or 8 feet away from the static that then you may want to cover up the static vent by putting cardboard underneath your static vent. Any further than that I wouldn’t worry about it.

Q:what is the hybrid solar adapter and what does it do? Do you need it?
              by|Apr 6, 2020

              Answer This Question

A:  The hybrid solar adapter will run your fan at night or when the sun is not out using your house power. You have to have an outlet up in your attic to plug it into. It’s only necessary if your attic is still hot in the evening and you want your fan to run. We recommend that you start without it and add it later if you see that your attic is still hot. It’s a simple plug and play. The Wi-Fi part of your fan will only work when there’s power going into the solar panel to power the fan and the Wi-Fi.

                Answer This Question

A:  You would need one 40 watt Remington Solar attic fan. You should have 4 sq/ft of soffit intake to adequately support it. You should be able to get away with one fan instead of two. You would need the wi-fi adapter to stay in the fan for each fan (or just one of course if you have one fan). Just fyi if you use two fans, your phone app will show 2 separate fans and you can control them independently.
