Q:Will the WiFi adaptor work with the Model SF30? Does it need a 110 power source or can it run from the solar fan? If it does need a power source, do I need to purchase your 110 adaptor?
    by|Oct 27, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The 110 needs a 110 V outlet in your attic. It works in conjunction with the fan. It will keep your fan running at night when the sun goes down. Some people like that and others don’t need it so it’s up to you.

Q:Should I have any issues with connecting to the router with the Wi-Fi option if my router is located inside the house on the second floor ??
        by|Aug 27, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  That’s a really good question. We have not heard very many complaints at all. I have a weak Wi-Fi signal. It’s possible but unlikely. You could set it before you actually install the fan if you’re concerned, but it’s unlikely you’ll have a problem.

Wifi hub stopped working after 2 days
I paid extra for this unit for the sole purpose of being able to monitor the attic temperature and humidity on an app, however after 2 days the app would not connect to the unit, turns out the power connector on the hub broke out of it. Very dissatisfied with this.

Immediately after installation of the solar attic fan the wi-fi hub thermostat and humidistat power connector broke-off on the first use due to a manufacturing defect or poor quality affecting the operation of the attic solar fan. Nor RemingtonSolar and Home Depot want to help replace the defective / bad part.

            Lack of basic status info
Product sounded high-tech and can remotely configurable parameters via WiFi. Purchased 2 fans & 110-volt adaptor. To my surprise, there is NO way to clearly identify if the fan is working!! Remington Support rep suggest "you can go into the attic or tie streamers outside the fan ..." - this is a stone age method, not one expected from the "leader" in this space. Very disappointed with much regret. I would not buy this if I knew before hand, too late to look for alternatives. Quality / value TBD.

The remote Wi-Fi thermostat supplied was difficult to get it to work and I used the alternate dumb thermostat which was also supplied.

The solar attic fan is not bad at all. It does the job and it stays on my roof in the High Desert winds. The Wi-Fi part and the app are very simple but it’s still nice to see the temp and humidity in the attic.

Instead of using this fan, my contractor wanted to install more ridge vent and some similar strips down near but above the bottom edge.
