Q:These Marathon water heaters require a vaccume relief valve. How can a system that is constantly under pressure need this ? I can't fathom any reason there would be a vaccume placed on a water heater. Especially in a closed well system.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi RonL and thank you for your question. Vacuum relief valves are used in water heater/tank applications to automatically allow air to enter into the piping system to prevent vacuum conditions that could siphon the water from the system and damage water heater/tank equipment.
