A: Happy to help! Rust-Oleum RockSolid 6X Deck Coat can be used on pressure treated wood. For the best results, we do recommend using the Rust-Oleum RockSolid Deck Start Primer. Make sure the surface is prepped and allowed to weather as directed to ensure full adhesion.

Q:Will this work on new wood decks. The wood has not been painted, stained, or sealed? And will it work painting vertical for wood railings?

Answer This Question
A: Great question, Jessi! If applying Rust-Oleum RockSolid 6X Deck Coat to a newer build, new and sealed decks need to weather for at least 6 months before application. We recommend performing a splash test on the wood as well to test for any sealers, as these are often present from the manufacturing process. If water beads up on the surface when splashed, then a sealer is present. This product can also be applied to vertical surfaces!

Q:Hi, I prepped and primed my deck using standard KILZ primer. Can your RockSolid 6X paint work with this primer too? Thanks!

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, Pete! While Rust-Oleum RockSolid 6X Deck Coat can be used on previously coated decks, the previous paint or primer must be suitable for use on decks and walking surfaces. If the primer is not suitable for decks, then the foot traffic will cause the primer and this product to start to crack and peel.
