A: Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Food is easy to use and kid & pet friendly when used as directed. The lawn is safe to re-enter immediately after Lawn Food is applied. For faster results, lightly water your lawn after you apply it. This is per their website. I personally try to keep my dog Cheerio away from my lawn after granular fertilizer applications until I've watered it which washes the dust off grass and weeds and gets it more into the ground. Cheerio is a British Yellow Lab who has allergies so believe me, we're very cautious and concerned about his well-being. I fertilize my yard with Scotts products about 4 times during the summer and we've never had a problem with Cheerio getting sick. Good luck my friend.

A: When used according to directions, pets and children should be safe. We recommend waiting 24 hours after use, watering the area, and allowing it to dry before re-entering. However, every pet and person is different. If you are aware of a special health concern or sensitivity, it is best to consult with a doctor or a veterinarian before use.

Q:Will it kill clover?

Answer This Question
A: Clover is a perennial which grows best in wet areas. Clover also performs well in nitrogen–depleted soil. Consider applying a fertilizer application with "Weed & Feed" in it to help keep it from coming back. Any Scotts products that include "Weed & Feed" in the name is a good start. Spot treatment is another option. You can use chemical sprays (such as Ortho Weed-B-Gone Max) that apply directly on the clover which is what I've done between applying my monthly granular fertilizer. Just be careful with the spray stuff. Don't over do it or you may harm your lawn. After spraying, it can take up to a week before you see the clover wilt and turn brown. Good Luck.

Q:Is Scotts Turbuilder Weed and Feed the same as Scotts Turfbuilder Plus 2?
by|Jun 29, 2013

Answer This Question
A: Billy, the Turf Builder Plus 2 was renamed Turf Builder Weed & Feed this year. The two products are not identical, but they are very similar. Both use the same active ingredients to kill weeds. Both are a high-quality, slow-release lawn food. The new product, Weed & Feed, has slightly less potassium and slightly more of the weed control than last year's product. You should get the same great results this year as you have in the past.

A: Hello dee,
The 2,4-D based herbicide in Scott's Turfbuilder Plus2 is safe when applied according to directions. Apply no more than 2 applications of this herbicide per year. Apply to wet grass when no rain is expected for 48 hours.

A: Yes, Dee, as long as you have a capped well. Neither the slow-release fertilizer nor the weed control leach through the soil to the groundwater. We do recommend you keep this product at least 25 feet from any open body of water, including antique, open-style wells.

I consulted one of our Garden Experts, GreenGiant, and he says to wait 48-hour, water Turf Builder into the lawn, and then you can cut.
