A: Depends on your set up I guess. My bed has slats (which can be purchased for use instead of a box spring), so I don't need one. If you don't have slats, unwilling to purchase slats, or don't have a bed frame that supports a mattress only configuration, platform bed frame for example, then yes, you would need a box spring.

Yes, this is a mattress only. You will need to purchase some sort of base for this mattress separately, unless you purchase the version of this mattress that comes with a foundation. Here are some options with foundation below:
