A:  The only screw the A33 is rated with is the SD9112 structural connector screw. Thank you!

A:  The holes are 0.148" and were intended for 10-penny common nails. They will accommodate only #6 screws, so would likely need to be drilled larger for your application. A:  Specs for Simpson A-series angles may be found at: http://embed.widencdn.net/pdf/plus/ssttoolbox/e39lmuvjy2/C-C-2019-p285.pdf That document plus a ton more information on these products may be found at: https://www.strongtie.com/framinganglesandplates_anglesandplates/a_angle/p/a Scroll down a ways and under Drawings there are AutoCAD files (DWF and DWG formats). If, like me, you don't have AutoCAD, there is an online viewer on the AutoDesk website at: https://viewer.autodesk.com/

A:  The plate is not wide enough to accept a 1" ID U bolt.

A:  The holes in the A33 are 0.156" diameter; they are sized for 10d common nails (0.148" diameter x 3" long). Side-to-side, the center-to-center distance of the holes is 11/16". Thank you!

Q:Help! I want to make some heavy duty kitchen wall shelving, but don't have the tools for using actual floating shelf hardware. If these are anchored into studs, how much weight might I expect it to handle for a 12" deep shelf? The walls are also covered in 3/4" boards I could fasten extra angles to.

            Answer This Question

A:  The A33 angles are not intended for a shelf application. This connector is rated for lateral capacities, where a shelf would have a download force. Please see the SBV shelf bracket as a possible option (the SBV has a 145 lb. download capacity). Thank you!

A:  For mounting a 4x4 I would choose something heavier. Check out the range of Simpson post hardware at: https://www.strongtie.com/search/?q=post

A:  mike, The A33 is designed for wood-to-wood applications. It would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate connector based on design, demand loads, local building codes, etc., but the E-Z Base is the only product we offer specifically for fence applications. Thank you!
