Answer This Question
A: Hi davey76, this is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. The CBSQ standoff post base series does not provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and therefore are not recommended for non-top supported installations. An alternative option that does provide resistance to rotation at the base, is our MPBZ Moment Post Base. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

A: Mine is in cement so I can't give you an exact measurement, but if my memory serves, it was 7 or 8 inches. Your cement will go to the bottom of that base that your 4x4 will sit on. Hope that helps. Great product by the way. Very sturdy and no post movement.

A: Hi Mike, thank you for your message. We want to make sure we address your CBSQ46-SDS Column Base, Quick-Install. The CBSQ46 requires 3" of concrete side cover all around the base, so for a 4x6 you will want to use a 12" concrete foundation .
