A:  Hello, from my experience no copper insulated or uninsulated wire should be in contact with water because it oxidizes and the voltage will drop so will amperage.

Q:Can this wire be used to install a ham radio for a mobile application in a vehicle?

              Answer This Question

A:  You could, but I'd use solid 14 gauge wire, but you could get by with the stranded 14. There seems to be less movement of the solid wire than the stranded wire from the vibration of the vehicle, hence the less flexing so less weakening of the wire.

Q:Is this the propper wire for use in a florecent light fixture when changing to nonshunted tombstones for installing LED bulbs?

              Answer This Question

A:  THHN/THWN conductors are rated for a maximum temperature of 90C and are likely of a higher quality than the original wiring and should be safe to use if the original wiring is rated 90C or less. As replacement of the original wiring (or installation of the tombstone sockets) will likely void the UL listing of the product, this should be done very carefully and with the knowledge that any malfunctions will not be covered by the product manufacturers.
