Q:Does Terro sell the lure separately? These fruit fly traps are great. Bringing in the tomatoes is when they start and I am very thankful I found these traps. But I now have enough red plastic but also some stray flies. ?.

A: I'm not sure about the fungus gnats. I had a terrible infestation of fruit flies a couple of seasons ago that began with a box of strawberries. This product solved that problem. Hope this helps a bit.

A: This product works but unfortunately only on a 'limited' scale. That being said, the traps will catch fruit flies and gnats but my experience has been less than stellar. As for fungus gnats, this product may/may not catch them. They are very difficult to detain. Put it this way: Try the traps. It is better than nothing at all. Hope this helps.

A: I am sure this works for other people, but I really did not have much luck. And I have tried it more than one time. I also don't know the difference between fungus gnats and just the gnats that I had in our kitchen. I had more luck with just simply apple cider vinegar, some dishwasher soap and sugar mixed in a small bowl. And place the bowl near where the gnats are mostly around.

Q:I had one left over from last year, but days after I used the remaining bait liquid to fill it and put it out, it doesn't seem to be working at all. The fly-sighting and trap locations are the same as when they worked well. (My only complaint last year was the single-use disposable design.) Does the bait spoil? If so, is there a marked expiration date I missed?

A: I bought it the same day I set it out. After 2 weeks, nothing. I thought I had some gnats but I didn't see any in the trap.

A: So it does loose it sent. I add apple cider vinegar to it to strengthen it and it works fine. Keep them.

A: The bait absolutely can lose its attractive potency, making it much less effective. These products are typically used immediately after opening, and likely aren't designed to keep for a long period after being opened. I'd guess they have a shelf life of maybe 2-3 months.
