A: The bait must be placed inside the unit.
A: So first make sure that the trip is not activated then there is a little door on the back that you flip down and it’ll have what looks like a small cup built into it that is where you put the bait close the little door and then push down the latch.
A: Thank you for your question regarding Tomcat Kill and Contain Mouse Trap. There is a bait door on the back of the trap with a small place to add bait such as peanut butter. Please contact us at 877-220-3089 with any other inquiries that you may have, and we will be happy to assist you.
A: To add bait, open the back black "door". We fill the little hole with peanut butter and then close door and set trap. We caught mice within two days of setting traps. We leave a couple traps set at all times for our peace of mind and change the pb out every month as it dries out. Good luck!
A: On th flat side opposite the entry hole, there is a small black door that opens. The best bait is a small amount of peanut butter in the cup on the small black door. Then snap the black door back into place. These traps are great.
A: Yes it’s not big at all
A: Yes!!
A: Yes, you can use the trap in a cabinet.
A: Yes! We caught 12 mice in our house using these! We think that we must have had a family! No poison is involved. We used a little piece of pepperoni to attract the mice.
A: The trap, if it works, would be a best choice for inside cupboards since there will be little or no mess.
A: Yes. You can place our Tomcat Kill and Contain mouse Traps anywhere you notice rodent activity including in your kitchens cupboards. A: Yes, but the trap does not work as advertised. Read the many reviews for the variable results.
A: YES.
A: Yes you sure could, just make sure kids couldn’t get at it to put their fingers in.
A: Absolutely. I put them on the bottom shelf towards the back. Don't forget to put peanut butter in the small trap door at the end.
A: I wouldn't think so, it's pretty small,
A: The mice appeared to push it aside and run past it.
A: No
A: No.
A: No, it is too small.
A: A very young rat would fit in it the same as a mouse but full grown rats need a larger trap.
A: I'd say it depends on the size of the small rat. If it is small enough to fit into the opening and get to the bait, then yes as the mechanism closes them in from the front and traps them in the back (where the bait is). Otherwise, Home Depot has larger traps available for rats - but not sure of this same technology for the larger pests.
A: This trap will catch mice. If you have any other questions, please contact us at 877-220-3089.
A: Yes
A: Yes
A: Last Spring I set them in my back patio behind some outdoor furniture and they both caught mice.
A: I don’t see why not! There isn’t any poison involved!
A: Yes
A: This trap is meant for indoor use only. If you have any other questions, please contact us at 877-220-3089.
A: This version does neither
A: I think IF it does work, it kills instantly. My traps never caught a mouse though, I had to go back and use the snap ones even thought I didn't want to see the mouse. Those worked overnight. Haven't had a problem since
A: A mouse should be caught within 2 to 3 days. Once the rodent triggers the trap, the spring board inside the trap presses the rodent against the ridges along the back of the trap to kill the rodent. Under most circumstances, the trap should prove lethal within a few minutes to a few hours. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us at 877-220-3089.
A: Contain and release or contain and throw away
A: The mouse climbs through the trap and is captured. It will not kill instantly.
A: Once you have opened the bait door on the back of trap, you will want to bait it with food such as peanut butter or Tomcat Mouse Attractant. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any additional help to you. Our phone number is 877-220-3089 and we ask that you please refer to your review when calling.
A: Yes, otherwise the mouse has no incentive to go inside.
A: Yes- I use peanut butter.
A: Yes, a bit of peanut butter is perfect. It works perfectly.
A: Yes! We used pepperoni and it worked fast!
A: Yes, Home Depot has the old-fashion mouse trap for purchase.
A: Maybe on eBay but not in any store most stores will not keep older stock of items
A: Contact HOME DEPOT.
A: We would be interested in speaking with you further about this so that we can learn in more detail of why the new product design did not meet your expectations. If you would be willing, we ask that you call us at 877-220-3089 and refer to your review so that we can make a more complete report to our Quality Assurance Department.
A: many places sell the old traps. They work, but not as humane as traps designed to catch the entire upper torso.
A: I don't know for sure since I never tried it. But I think the technology will work on shrews.
A: Not this version --- this version doesn't catch anything. The old version of this trap was excellent at trapping shrews, with just a little peanut butter as bait.
A: Doesn't actually "kill". It traps the rodent inside. Your choice to relocate rodent or dispose of it.
A: I'm not sure...I never heard of a screw...looked it up and it looks pretty large...maybe if he's small enough to get inside the trap.
A: Tomcat Kill and Contain Mouse trap is made to kill common rodents. Shrews are in the same family as mice and rats. They can be caught by the trap but you would have to use different bait. For mice and rats cheese and peanut butter would be sufficient for a successful catch or kill. In the case of a shrew, you would need to use something like mashes earthworm pushed into the bait slot, Shrews eat things like earthworms, arthropods, spiders, wood lice, snails, slugs, small rodents, worms and a large array of insects including beetles. So crushing up one or two of those and putting them in your bait station will attract your Shrew and catch it or potentially kill it. Keep in mind there is a pad the shrew would have to stand on to trigger the trap. With the shrew being smaller than most mice, its weight may not be enough to press the pad and trigger the trap. Luckily it doesn't take much pressure to trigger it. The right bounce and the shrew is caught, and possibly hurt enough to stay put while you dispose of the trap. A: I placed them about 5 feet apart because I wanted to protect my dry food shelves. I used the Tomcat brand bait that was sold in the same section as the traps. Worked really well... within 2 days.
A: I used peanut butter and a mouse was in the trap within a half hour. I put two of them out, across the room from each other - probably about 16 feet apart.
A: I used pepperoni off of a pizza and had 2 traps tripped the next morning.
A: I used peanut butter
A: Traps should be placed 5 - 10 feet apart near the area where activity has been noticed. We recommend peanut butter to attract the mice.
A: Of course you can use it until it catches the mouse.... but, after it got the mouse, I don't think it is reusable. The best thing is just that, when full, you take everything without touching with your hands the mouse. Anyway, in my experience, if you put peanut butter as a bait (and the mouse is small), it works in a couple of hours.
A: Bill, this is a one time use mouse trap, and it should be discarded after it has caught a mouse.
A: No.
A: No. The manufacturer states for sanitary reasons, this cannot be used more than once.
A: DON'T know - It trips but doesn't catch the mouse
A: I didn't realize it was a 1-time use trap (my mistake as it's clearly labeled). That being said, I'm reusing it right now. I bought a 2-pack last night and set the traps in my garage. Both traps caught and killed a mouse overnight. They worked great! To empty the trap, I set it back to 'set' which opens the door and then shook out the dead mouse into the garbage. This might not work if the mouse is big and chubby, in which case you better just throw the trap away and use another one. It's worth mentioning that the 'catch' in the trap ( the piece that holds the door open and then snaps it shut on the mouse) is a small plastic piece and will likely loosen or wear out before long. It's probably best to plan on only getting one use out of the trap, and with a little luck you might get more.
A: possible as long as your not as fumble fingered as I am
A: Kind of. 1) it's never ever caught one of the mice plaguing my kitchen so I guess you could reuse it to hold pencils or keep paper from blowing away. 2) if it did manage to catch a mouse, you would have to set the mouse free, but if you didn't want to risk contact with the mouse, you're more likely to throw the whole thing in the trash.
A: No, the mouse trap is not reusable.
A: I've reused it, but you have to push the black lever down and shake the trap until the mouse comes out. Sometimes it may just stick too much. TMI?
