A:  Yes it should work fine, you need a good base to sit it on such as a concrete patio block.

A:  I wouldn't see why not. I used them to help level out a floor on a 150 year old cottage. Just remember not to exceed their capacity by using multiple ones as needed.

A:  This would work to help level an area with a small reinforce concrete slab square as a base. You would have to check the load rating of whatever jack you use for adding an addition and local codes.

A:  I used the Tiger Brand jack to lift a BEAM section under the NEW HOUSE because we had a small crack in the drywall - FIXED IT. We put the jack on a SOLID concrete block ( 4 x 8 x 16") My first question would be, WHY did the cinder block shift? Soft spot on the property? Pour a small footing to put the Jack on. Do not over tighten the lift height. Just enough to take the sag out and sturdy,

A:  I used 4 to support under my house for a large fish tank. And with one I was able to move the floor by the wall. And I had some shifting supports under my house I just put new cinder block in and used this suport to fix it and it been good. It should work just fine

A:  I would use two screw jacks with the appropriate lift height and weight. they work best with a stable footing. a board or cement , something like that to sit on. when I use them I put a beam ontop to spread the support across a wider area as well.

A:  If the cinder blocks are shifting, the odds are whatever you put under will shift as well unless there is a solid footer. I would suggest trying to dig a hole by the side the needs lifted and use a quick set cement to fill it. Once that is in place, your shifting should stop.

A:  Could you use a 4" cap block as a base for the jack? If that's overkill and the weight isn't too much, you might get by with a 2" paver.

A:  It extends about 5-6 inches but the jack can be preset to different elevations prior to starting to jack by adjusting the bolts in the post.

A:  without knowing your project the only thing I can suggest is using something like a wood or concrete under the jack. what you use would depend on where you are needing the jack and what your weight is you are lifting. Without your project knowledge it is difficult to say what is best.

A:  They come in various sizes, and the individual product on the Home Depot web site will tell you the range of motion. This particular one can extend from 1ft. 7in TOTAL length to 3ft. TOTAL lenght. So, the range of motion is the difference: 1ft. 5in (17 in. travel).

A:  1. No. 2. I'm not seeing your vision. If you're thinking of using 4 jacks as the legs of a desk, I think this would be very unsuitable overkill. Also, the top plate is not attached. If you don't have constant downward pressure, it will fall over.
