A: 110 MPH (50 m/sec) Max Wind
A: Do not know what the manufacturer would say, depends on how it is put up. Mine is on a mast about 25 feet up and attached to the house. It has been up for two years or more and in winds of excess of 45 -50 mph. No problems !
A: no. go get a black antenna it has to be a 1480B
A: Not that I have ever seen, but I did see one modified from Off Grid Gear 2 Go that was in black.
A: No it does not but you can paint it black, and put it on light
A: Not that I know of, but it performs very well. You could spray paint it black, should not affect the performance. Good luck! dc
A: No
A: No the GMRS frequency range of. 462 to 467 mhz is higher than the 430 to 440 mhz this antenna is designed for. It will receive, but transmission will be harmful to the radio.
A: It may require tuning, which means you'd have to disassemble it and trim off small bits of the antenna according to a chart for that antenna that show specific lengths required for different frequencies. Here's a link: http://pascogmrs.us/tram-1486/
A: It does work for the GMRS Band. Remember that the SWR on these can be adjusted through the length of your feed line. I am using a 50' feed line on mine and have SWR of 1.4 to 1 on all channels.
A: Technically it would probably receive ok, however transmitting the SWR's would possibly be high and could damage your radio.
A: Yes. I checked it with a NanoVNA and it appers resonant. SWR was 1.2 at 465Mhz ~50Ohms. Good to go!
A: I have not tried this antenna with GMRS, but checking some of the online blogs indicated that it should work with GMRS. Hope this helps.
A: About eight feet
A: Approximately 101 inches.
A: The assembled length is approximately 101 inches. The antenna comes in two sections which are approximately 45 and 56 inches. It also comes with three ground radials. 73
A: Approximately 8'
A: No and yes. It will receive that band probably just fine. For transmitting, you will have to measure the SWR for the frequencies you’ll be transmitting to be sure that the reflected power is not too high which will damage your equipment if it doesn’t have high SWR protection. Used with a proper tuner, this antenna could be utilized. There are antennas made for public service bands. This one is made to transmit on HAM radio bands directly without further tuning.
A: It may work but is really for the 144 to 147 band along with the 440 band.
A: Probably just to receive but this antenna is tuned to transmit on the two ham bands. Get a cheap ground plane designed for your frequency range.
A: It has been tuned to the 2M and 70 CM ham bands. It will probably work as a inefficient receive only antenna outside of these frequency ranges. Outside of 144-148 and 440-450 your transmit VSWR will be unacceptable.
A: It is designed and tuned for amateur frequencies and I would not recommend it for CB.
A: This antenna is for amateur radio on the 2 meter and 440cm bands. I wouldn't use it as a CB antenna.
A: No. This antenna is tuned for the 144-148 and 430-450 MHz bands of Ham Radio. CB works in the 29MHz band. So this antenna is not suitable and could actually damage your transmitter if you did try it (depending on if your radio has antenna mismatch protection or not). Consider getting a Ham Radio license. :). It’s a way better radio experience than CB. Just my opinion.
A: no works on 144-148 MHz /440-450 MHz frequency range CB is 27 MHz
A: No. Not usable tor CB.
A: No. This antenna is for Amateur Radio 2 Meter and 70 CM band, 146 MHz and 440 MHz respectively. CB is 11 Meter, 27 MHz. Need a completely different antenna for CB.
A: No...wrong frequency
A: I have owned this antenna for three years. Maybe you didn't see it sooner because it is an online item.
A: I have three of them
A: The TRAM 1480 has been around a LONG time, and available.
A: this question could only be answered by Home Depot or TRAM. Not by a user. But I can tell you I have two TRAM base antennae in active service now for more that two years.
A: No thanks it looks like it will last many more years....but thanks for the offer....
