A:  Hi Bill. Thank you for reaching out with your question and interest in our products. For a residential application, installing a 1" deck board profile perpendicular to joists, 16" on-center joist span, is the maximum joist span we recommend for installation. This recommendation is universal to all decking lines, including Enhance. However, we do recommend confirming with your local code regarding this project detail. A:  First try cleaning the area as the "scratches" are generally mud and light scratches that will weather out over time. We do not recommend painting or staining our Enhance Naturals composite deck boards or any of our newer generation composite deck boards.
