A:  Island Mist, part of the Trex Tropical series gets its realistic, natural wood appearance from the streaking and color variation throughout. Whether boards from the same lot, or produced two years later, the overall appearance of the boards may naturally differ. In order to maintain a consistent variation on the deck, it is Trex’s recommendation that the boards are laid out prior to being installed. This way you can stagger any lighter boards or darker boards as needed to get the desired look. Simply put; if you stagger the boards from the previous project throughout the boards purchased new, you should have a fantastic result even if the boards are slightly different.
