Q:Who is responsible for incorrect specifications? 3/4" sched. 40 pipe shows an OD of 1.05", and ID 0.81". Subtracting 1.05" by 0.81" gives 0.24". Divided by 2 for the wall thickness is 0.12", or about 1/8". Specs show impossible 0.25" wall thickness.

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Laserman - Thanks for bringing this to our attention. You're correct. The stated minimum wall thickness as per our VPC spec sheet is .113 for the 3/4" pipe. Based on your observation, we're currently reviewing all PVC pipe specs on homedepot.com and making necessary adjustments.

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Grace - PVC, by nature, is rigid with very little flex. There are various on-line videos (You Tube) that describe how to heat a piece of PVC to bend it into various configurations. One is by heating sand in a frying pan and putting it inside the PVC and then shaping the pipe as desired. However, we don't know the effects on the pipe's ability to hold pressure. So if you're using it for a pressurized water delivery application, Home Flex cannot be held responsible for any product failures.

Q:The thickness of this pipe is listed as 3 inches. That's obviously an error. The thickness should be 0.229 inches if the other numbers are correct. Are the other numbers in fact correct?

            Answer This Question

A:  We will have that dimension corrected. Since this is schedule 40 you can count on OD being 3.5 in. plus or minus 0.008 in. The wall thickness will be 0.216 to 0.242 inch.

A:  Hi, Kera - If the outside diameter measurement of your connector is about 1", it's probably a 3/4" inside diameter, so you should be 3/4" schedule 40 pipe.
