Q:Can I apply this over an existing layer of Varathane Exterior Spar polyurethane? I started finishing with Spar polyurethane but would like a harder finish, so want to switch to the interior-type poly. This is for a table which will be used indoors only.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, Nicole. Both Rust-Oleum Varathane Water-Based and Oil-Based Polyurethane can be applied as a top coat for an oil-based stain. The water-based poly dries to a crystal clear finish while the oil-based has a slight amber hue.
