Q:What's the best way to keep them looking new? Several of mine have turned blackish and I want to clean or replace them. I suppose I could try to paint over them.

A: Since the caps are plastic I would try dish soap and a sponge or rag. Just be careful not to use anything abrasive or the copper color will wear through. After removing all the soap residue a coat of wax may maintain the nice "copper" finish. Best of luck!

A: Roni, To remove an already tarnished finish, remove the old coating with mineral spirits and grade 0000 steel wool. Buff with grade 0000 steel wool for a satin finish. For a mirror-like finish, apply a car wax or spray with a clear lacquer or polyurethane and let dry, and then apply a car wax.

A: I had to put an adhesive bead line around the very top sides/top of my deck wooden 6 x 6 post. The top of my post are cut the same way the copper's cut. Plus used staples only one on each side of the very bottom rim of the cap post. Hope this helps sorry I'm not a weekly computer user. I'm just wondering since its weathered now if I can spray paint the top of these??? What do you think?

A: inside opening is approx 5-3/4" so it will slip over a 6x6 post easily without forcing it. I like to put 2 screws through the lower trim (with pilot holes drilled) to keep them on in case of high winds or thieves.

A: Thank you for your question. The underside trim height of the DeckoRail 6 in. x 6 in. Copper Metal High Point Pyramid Post Cap is 1 3/8” tall with a complete flat internal surface. To prevent cutting your posts, the post point needs to be less than 1 3/8” tall.

A: No
by|May 5, 2023
A: There is a lip on the inside measuring ~3/8in designed to rest on the top of the post. Depending on the slope of the point, you may need to flatten the edge.

A: No they won't because under the copper top is either a flat piece of plastic or wood. You'll need to cut the tops flat on your posts for these to work.
