A: This trap can easily be emptied and reset after a catch.
A: Yes, I have nailed a squirrel in one of mine baited with peanut butter , its been tested !
A: Yes
A: Yes
A: This product took care of the job.
A: We do not have testing information for using this trap for voles and so cannot recommend it.
A: Place in pairs back to back against walls, or at the end of a dead end, or in a circular fashion with the pedals bristling outward, or cut the end off a small shipping box... anything that favors a frontal approach. Plan for bleed out, these are strong.
A: I sat my trap inside a cinderblock against a fence
A: I bait with gum drops or peanut butter.
A: Probably a mouse.
A: Bating for rats is tough, they are cautious, and smart. The bate needs to be recessed into the well so that they have to step on the platform. Assuming they are heavy enough to trip the trap. Also a good 177 pump, and good eye does a much better job.
A: Yes I have gotten a squirrel, I used peanut butter with a hard peanut inserted in the butter , Its been tested ! IT WORKS
A: This product is for use against rats. It has not been tested for squirrels.
A: It is capable of killing squirrels.
A: Squirrels, I do not know for sure but, it will take out Chipmunks. Even if it does not kill the squirrel, it will catch a leg or nose which is worse. I hate to say it, an air rifle does a good job of dispatching the rat while saving the others.
A: Hi Brush, this Victor Power-Kill Rat Trap (12-Pack) is an online exclusive item and comes directly from the Homedepot.com inventory where it can be shipped to you directly or if it is eligible, shipped to a Home Depot store. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!
A: No online only for the 12 pack. Do not purchase the 12. I suggest you purchase only one to try it out. Attached it to a heavy object so the rat does not haul it off.
A: Easier is subjective. This one does seem to have a more positive set, so less chance of premature activation.
A: Yes, not only that but more effective too! I bought 2 of these Victor "Power Kill" plastic rat traps at my local HD store for a few bucks each, along with one of the older Victor wooden models. I've been using them to kill chipmunks that tunnel under my house and dig up the yard. Would you believe I caught (and killed) THREE of the varmints using these Victor plastic rat-traps, and ZERO using the old-fashioned wooden traps?!?!?
A: It is more sturdy, easy release, and washable. Highly recommend.
A: Yes much easier to set and spring easier.
A: MUCH!
A: Better than the old wooden Victor rat traps? Absolutely NOT. I have probably had 15 snaps on rats and have not caught a single rat. They all get away. Set an old wooden one in same spot and caught rats very next night. I kept thinking it would work eventually but after so many misses i have given up on catching rats with it. Mice are easily caught. Easier than the old wooden traps, Absolutely! Much easier. Plan on catching mice but if you have rats you had better go with wooden trap.
A: Easier to set than the original; can set it without fear of pinching your own fingers.
A: easier to set the trap without wondering if you have the bar on the wooden trip secured properly. Very sensitive if you set the trap down too hard it will trip.
A: Yes, I like this much better than the wooden one; I'm able to clean up and re-use.
A: Yes it is. And it worked a lot better. Caught my elusive rat within 15 minutes of setting. I'm impressed.
A: A kitten, YES. Adult cat it will hurt for a bit.
A: It’s not meant to trap a cat, that would be animal cruelty so no it shouldn’t be used for that
A: We recommend placing this trap in areas that your cat will not be able to access.
A: Yes place trap in rafters and away from animals
A: Yes definitely this rat trap could hurt a cat. I use them all the time in my warehouse and I’ve seen them kill large rodents.
A: I can confirm with 100% certainty that YES this Victor brand "Power Kill" plastic rat-trap DOES also work on chipmunks! I read a recommendation for this exact product online (the plastic rat-traps from Victor NOT the wooden ones) and I visited 3-4 different stores, and FINALLY found them at my local HD store for a few bucks each. I baited them with sunflower seeds, left 'em alone for a couple days & overnight, and so far have caught (and killed) 3 chipmunks, which are tunnelling under my house, cracking the foundation, and ruining the yard. Funny though, the plastic rat-traps I bought are all black in color, not beige like in these pictures (UPC barcode # 072868001444) so maybe Victor changed the color recently? Either way, HIGHLY recommended! Make sure to buy several, in case you're too squeamish (like me) to reuse the trap after scraping off the dead animal it's killed. I just threw the whole mess in the garbage, trap and all, and so now I need to buy some more.
A: Yes, if Kills a rat it will kill chipmunks
A: Yes it does. Unfortunately, but neccessary, two and counting for me. The only issue with these traps is I'm not sure how instantly the kill ever happens with mice or otherwise. Just remember chipmunks are rodents who burrow, and as a result can cause thousands in dollars of damage when it comes to your house foundation or otherwise.
A: Totally! That’s the only thing I bought it for!
A: No. That is why I bought it. They are stealing the bait (tomato or peanut butter and sunflower seeds), tripping the trap but are not caught. I can only hope they are lamed for life.
A: I think the real question is whether this trap will kill innocent chipmunks when the real target is rats. My guess is that it will kill or maim any small animal that gets too close.
A: This product is recommended for rats; we do not have recommendations regarding traps for chipmunks.
A: Yes, it worked quickly and easily. Chipmunk was eating my entire garden. I used peanut butter and a small piece of orange for bait.
A: Absolutely works. I've gotten many chipmunks as they try to make themselves at home in my garden beds. I use peanut butter (and sometimes embed a peanut in it) to bait the pests. Sometimes it gets triggered without catching anything but the successes have far outstripped the failures.
A: I have voles. Will these work with voles?
