Answer This Question

A:  First I want to caution you against using any strong cleaning products on this drain as it may potentially damage the finish. I believe this stopper is non- removable so I use an old toothbrush to remove any debris which accumulates in the strainer . Then a soft cloth with a solution of white vinegar and water will remove any soap scum from the surface. Works perfectly for me hope this helps.

A:  To clear out "snake" the bath drain, the overflow is the way to accomplish the task. The Silicone application Can be used when the cross bars have broken inside the drain and the brass pin adapter application cannot be used. When the pin adapter is used, the Universal NuFit is easily removeable.

A:  The Watco Universal NuFit bathtub stopper and drain can either be glued over an existing drain or can use brass pins (3/8 in. - 5/16 in. combo pin is the most commonly used pin) , or a #10-24 and 1/4-20 pin can be purchased. The brass pin adapter is used with existing drains that have cross threads in them. The glue can be used for drains that have broken cross bars with threads or drains without any cross bars.

        Answer This Question

A:  Correct, If you install with the brass pin, you don't need the silicone. The brass pin is for drains that have cross bars with threads in that you can easily remove the stopper if needed. The silicone is a universal application and will work on drains that don't have cross bars or the cross bars have been damaged.

A:  If you need a new strainer body that is 1-5/8 x 16 tpi, a Watco 01022CP is needed. We don't sell just the strainer body at HomeDepot.com. They all come in Tub closures or Trim Kits. The Universal NuFit Trim Kit 48700-PP-CP-G will kit over the 1-9/16 in. drain you have.
