A: I didn’t use mine anywhere near heat but it’s a large enough gauge that I don’t see why they wouldn’t

A: I would say Ues you can... I would use maybe a bit thicker rebar to do a coal and or wood grate as sometimes the fire CAN get hotter than you think it will, especially is use woods like Cedar or a high grade coal.

A: The rebar is not galvanized.
by|Aug 30, 2021
A: It is steel, not galvanized.
by|Aug 31, 2021
A: Rebar is not galvanized, it is bare steel. You can but epoxy coated rebar but Home Depot does not carry it.
by|Aug 29, 2021
A: I don't believe Home Depot sells 1/2 x 10' Galvanized rebar. They do sell it in 2 and 4' lengths. 10 foot lengths of galvanized rebar are available in 5/8 diameter.
by|May 7, 2023
A: NO. No rebar is galvanized. There is no such thing as galvanize rebar. Even if you expose it to the outside weather it will last for decades.

Q:Hi,
Can this be cut into a 6ft length in store? I'm buying all 10 feet but was looking to have it cut. Thank you!

Answer This Question
A: This rebar should also be available in 2 and 4 foot lengths as well if that helps. Some stores may be able to cut this rebar but I would call first. If you have an angle grinder you can cut it easily yourself with a cut off wheel.

A: No, the home depot people in my local store won't do it, saying they are not allowed to do it. Just get a hacksaw blade for 1 or 2 or get a cutting blade for more rods and cut it yourself.

A: I can tell you three things about rebar based on my local Home Depot
If you were buying 2' rebar, they come in bundles of 6
the biggest rebar that my home depot carries is 1/2" x 10' and they do not mention bundles for this size on line.
20' rebar is not mentioned at all.
I think your best bet is calling your local store.

Q:Can I use this to build a trellis? If so, do i need to paint it to prevent rusting?

Answer This Question
A: I used the 1/2" rebar as the vertical spindles for a porch railing. They will rust if not painted. I primed and painted mine, and they are holding up well this far.

A: You can surely build a trellis with it. It will definitely rust if you don't paint it
by|Aug 25, 2019
A: This is designed to use in concrete and will rust if not covered.

A: Maybe. It's quite hard to bend without a bender tool. It will rust, even if you paint it. Rusty trellis look?
by|Jul 17, 2022

A: Depends what the trellis is built for, but I'd say yes. As to the painting, ALL of the rods available at the store I visited were ALREADY rusted. You'd have to REMOVE the rust, THEN paint.

A: to reply to your question {does home depot cut #4 rebar for certain sizes for customers needs No they do not]
by|May 9, 2019
A: Home Depot sells 1/2 rebar #4 in 2ft, 4ft and 10ft lengths. My store in Midlothian Va 23112 does not perform custom length cuts for rebar. Options that will do the job: hacksaw, sawzall, carbide metal angle grinder, jigsaw and skil saw with carbide metal cutting blade. Each of the mentioned tools will require a metal cutting blade. Use protective eye wear dust protection and gloves.
