Longer Than Original But Fit
This anode was about 3" longer than the original anode from my 5-year old Rheem electric water heater. I would rather have a solid anode (without the bendable sections) but this was the only one available in-store. I had to buy an electric impact wrench to remove the old anode. Brut human force would not budge the original anode. I will check in 3 years to see how corroded this new anode is.

    Wish I had known
I bought this anode rod today thinking it would make things easier Installing it. When I removed my old rod, it measured 30 in. This rod was much longer and I should have removed the bottom portion and everything would have been fine. I carefully bent the bottom half to allow flexibility and then did the same to the top, but then snapped off the top part from the bottom two pieces. Finished the job with another purchased rod, but not after wasting time with the first. Be careful when bending it!

      Just now got it installed...
Picked it up locally this morning; they had four in stock. My heater is a 3 yo. (to the day) A.O.Smith 40 gallon electric, had to use a 1/2" impact driver (rated for 600lb·ft) to remove the old anode; which was shot. There's no way I could have gotten it out by myself without the impact driver which took 4-5 seconds to break it loose--no sign of sealant or tape on the old threads, they just made it "Guttentight" to prevent leaking. Time will tell as to how it performs.

We were unable to remove the old anode from our ten-year-old water heater; so, we did not use this anode rod. The best option is to replace the original anode with an upgrade anode or with an electronic anode when you first get your new water heater.

The cashier that helped me because I’m disabled was really great. He said he was new on the job, but he really helped.

Fit perfect in my Kenmore Mister 9 electric water heater. Smell seems to be gone as well.

I would have preferred the solid anode rod, rather than the 3-section, but the solid rod was only available on-line. Waiting a few days was not an option. The 3-section works, but just won’t last quite as long as a solid anode rode.

Looks like JUST what I need and the "adjustable length" could be useful for others (I need the full length of this rod). I hope to get to the install very soon. (Holidays pressing the time available to get it installed)

Do not buy for older water heaters
This anode rod should be thrown in the trash. The threads seem out of spec. It's definitely not "universal fit". I've tried 2 of these anode rods, and both of them would not screw in no matter what. I spent over 6 hours and called a plumber to try screwing it in, thinking there must be some "trick" to do to get this thing installed. Wrong. The part just isn't up to spec. Don't waste your time with this thing, buy the right OEM part for the job. This replica isn't it

Since I had limited overhead space, the ability to bend the rod was greatly appreciated!

The part works as far as I know. I was concerned during installation because you have to bend it at the narrow points to put into place and I noticed that the metal was starting to break.

The anode rod was perfect for my water heater. The old one was severely corroded and made the water smell like rotten eggs. I replaced it with the new one and in no time the odor was gone.

Cannot rate this Anode Rod as I could not remove the old one which maybe rusted onto the water heater!

I had the first one for 3 years, and proactively replaced it again with a new one. I have to cut the end piece off to fit my water heater...does the trick!

Needed to replace my anode rode for my water heater. Original anode rode was a solid rod rather than the one above that can bend at the two joints that you can kinda see in the picture. Very beneficial when you don't have the height above your water heater. Overall terrible to get original rod out, easy to install new rod.

This was perfect! Has about 30” of room between my ceiling and water heater and was worried about no fit. Rod was able to bend at gaps and straightened it at the rim and it was perfect! I would buy this again!
