Fit my water heater perfectly

I have been dealing with my hot water having a Sulphur smell in my cabin for the last two water heaters and 25 years. Replaced the stock magnesium anode with the aluminum one and the rotten egg smell is 100% GONE!!!!!!! I read a review about well water and magnesium anodes causing the smell. Did not think it would be that easy of a fix. It got so bad in the last year I was embarrassed for anyone to take a shower in the cabin. I absolutely recommend you change out your anode to an aluminum one. Might even work on city water as well.

I had a smell in my heater and install this rod 90% of the smell went away I would definitely recommend it if you have any type of smell coming from your hot water

easy to install once old anode rod is removed. Segmented makes it easier to get into water heater top. This should be part of the homeowner's water heater maintenance, but I doubt most home owners do this task. Should be replaced ever 3~5 years.

It fits my 10 years old 50 gallon GE gas water heater. I didn't have to bend rod (it has three sections) as I just had enough space on the top of the water heater.

Easy to install, took about 10 minutes and elbow grease to remove old anode with saw and insert new aluminum anode. Comes in segments you can bend if the tank does not have the clearance on the top of the tank to insert. Used this anode in conjunction with brand new hot water tank and well water. After installing the tank, we started smelling rotten eggs when the hot water tap was on. Did some troubleshooting online and isolated it to only the hot water tank which came with a magnesium anode. With well water plus magnesium anode, the chemical reaction can cause the odor. Once we installed the aluminum rod and flushed the tank out, the smell went away. Best $16 I ever spent to eliminate a smell.

Put this in as a precaution when I replaced the lower element.

The anode took the sulfur smell out of our dishwasher that left an odor on on our plates. Now we are good for another 5 Years

Minus one star because i had to go to 3 HomeDepots to find a decent one. First one had none. Second one has two with a missing third section.

Was told this would eliminate the smell from well water in my water heater it did not. Looking for other solutions now.

Standard anode rod, can easily be cut off into sections by bending at the narrow points. Don't neglect this item if you have hard water, you absolutely need a functioning rod to stave off corrosion.
