This is not the same great quality masking tape that Scotch 3M has been known for. They have changed the way that they make it now. Even though they are making this product with the same model number as the old one, it is quite different. The adhesive is less sticky than the previous one. The old tape had a satin feel, but the new material has a rough feel to it that is similar to painters tape. The color is now lighter and the inside label has changed.

I have bought many of these over the years. I use them for everything. Taping tarps, taping underlayment down to new underlayment, even as painters tape. I wouldn't recommend on its own as a painters tape. 1 tip is if you want a clean line in a 45 degree corner of a wall. I have done a bead of caulk smoothed out with my finger the day before a prep and the next day when dry and ready to paint. You can then apply your tape over the dried caulk to get you smooth perfect line of a different color paint for a focal wall. I have also used this tape while applying caulk for very noticeable projects that I want to have a perfectly straight smoothed bead of caulk. I put the tape down first, then a bead of caulk, then smooth with my finger, and peel up tape for a perfect line of caulk in a place that would be very noticeable. I will attach a pic for reference. I have to go back and touch up paint the wall from the caulk but the line on the step is perfect. The tape is perfect for so many jobs and is a great price.

PRETTY GOOD MASKING TAPE...USE AROUND THE HOUSE FOR VARIOUS APPLICATIONS. Could be a little more sticky.
