Exactly what it’s supposed to be and cut to length by a friendly employee!

A lady associate at Home Depot was nice enough to give me a break with a dowel I needed that they were out of. She gave me one that was already cut down from a previous one that was priced per-foot for the same price as if it was from the bin that was precut, which made the price a bit less.

Worked perfectly for hangers in a laundry room

It is a dowel. Which is what I was looking for so I have no complaints. I gave it an average star rating because as previously stated….. it is a dowel.

This 48 in. hardwood dowel is magnificently designed to fulfill all of your 48 in. 1-1/4 in. dowel needs. Sturdy. No need to bust out the tweezers to remove any nasty splinters–this puppy is smooth and ready for your project. We painted ours white, but hey! you do you. We actually bought TWO of these for our project and woowee, they both delivered. If you're in the market for a wooden dowel of a reasonable thickness and 48" or less, this is the product for you.

Staining it for a heavy-duty hiking staff. It needs to be that thick because if my tricky right knee gives out, I fall to the right side and I need be shored up, not just balanced. Now looking for a one-inch metal badge with the "Wilderness Explorers" logo (from the movie "UP") to pin to it. I used your rubber, one-inch chair-leg tip for the bottom. Whittled the 1 and a quarter down just a skosh.
