I'm not a handy guy, but I eventually managed to retrofit this fan into the pre-existing ceiling exhaust fan space. 0.8 sones is quiet but not whisper quiet. The 50 CFM is adequate for a small bathroom. The backflow flap is flimsy but still rattled after installation since the 50 CFM seems not strong enough to keep it forced open while running, so I knocked a star off this review. Fixed it, but not ideally so. The light is actually better than I expected. The LED casts a "cold" light. Perhaps I can find a "warmer" replacement. More expensive than similar fans, but this is not an huge expenditure. Time will tell on the durability aspect. Made in China.

I am very divided on this fan. The installation system that it uses is simple enough, HOWEVER, I do not see any way of installing this without either damaging the ceiling or not having drywall hanging already. This particular model also requires very close access to a cross beam. I tried and tried to get this installed and ended up having to pull insulation up to get this in from above. Once in however it is fairly quiet.

Using this fan in a 90 sf room. It does not have pulling power. I have been a contractor for over 50 years and would not recommend this product at all.

We had oi replace our ceiling bath fan in the master bedroom and settled on and agreed that this one was the best choice. We went with this one because it was nicely engineered, well made, and it was a direct replacement for the original unit that gave out on us after 10 years of service. The installation was relatively easy and did not take too long at all. It's a very nice looking unit, surprisingly quiet compared to the old one, and we believe we'll get many years if good service our of this one too.

Are you replacing an existing Broan / Nutone device in your ceiling? If so, then note that the venting direction of this fan is *COUNTERCLOCKWISE* as shown in the picture. My ducts and ceiling housing were installed to connect with a Broan Nutone, which is designed to vent steamy air in a *CLOCKWISE* direction. Short of tearing up my ceiling to change the position of the existing 4" ducts and the ceiling fan housing itself, my only option was a product return. Net/Net? My project took longer to complete after a shipping wait of over a week. The Store, Distributor & Manufacturer then ate my return costs.

The fan did install easy. It lasted about a year and a half. Thats pretty bad ceiling fans almost never go bad. So really disappointed with that. Luckily the motor comes out easy so I ordered fan unit and i'll swap. It is not as quiet as I would have hoped. It is definitely way louder then a refrigerator idk how they say its about the same loudness no way. As time when on it got a bit louder. Overall its nothing fancy. Too loud. Doesn't stand the test of time.

All around an excellent choice, easy to install and awesome performance

This is the second one I've purchased! For ceilings without drywall. I did put one in a bathroom with drywall on the ceiling, but it was a little bit of a challenge getting the bracket attached.

Easy install

The Air King 50 CFM was the perfect product for our application. We have one of those toilets in it's own room or what the British would call a "water closet". The low sound level (0.7 sones) combined with a small area needing less CFM made it the right unit for the job.

Our old GE BF125EM fan died and this fan came up when I did a search. To save the surrounding drywall, we were able to swap out just the motor and it works great!

Fan on new unit sounded like it is scraping or rubbing against other parts, or shaft is misaligned, etc. I don't expect it to last very long. Home Depot said they would replace the motor on the unit, ~3 weeks ago? Haven't heard a peep out of them. If you get one that works, maybe it will be ok. Our old version of this same unit, lasted about 2 years.

Was very satisfied but the shipping took longer than I had expected

I will probably replace another exhaust fan in my guest bath room next, however I will probably purchase the 100 CFM in that room
