This BreatheSmart Anti-Microbial Air Purifier with HEPA Filter is very well built and thought-out. Setup is super simple. The easiest way to use this air purifier is to set it on auto. You can however choose the fan speed yourself (low, medium, high, and turbo). In addition you can set a timer of 4, 8, or 12 hours. You can also set it on ION which helps the filter trap particles. The first time I ran this purifier, I realized that the small ones I've owned in the past were extremely insufficient. This BreathSmart moves some serious air but the fan is completely silent. All you hear is air movement. I tested this downstairs, upstairs, and in the master bedroom of our 2800 sq. ft. home. First, despite the fact that our downstairs area is an open floor plan and greater than the 1100 sq, ft. this is suppose to cover, it did I nice job cleaning the air. It ran at higher speeds upstairs but I think that was due to all the carpet. In our master bedroom this BreathSmart usually stayed on medium or low. It's hard to articulate that the air is cleaner but you can really tell the difference. For one any odors pretty much disappear. Anyone sensitive to dust, pollen, etc. will quickly notice the difference. We ultimately decided to keep this in our master bedroom. The noise from the air is relaxing and I actually feel more refreshed in the morning when this has run all night. This BreathSmart Air Purifier is pricey but with a limited lifetime warranty along with cleaner, healthier air, it's a worthwhile expense.

Spring in DC is horrible for pollen, especially tree pollen. You wash your car one afternoon, and wake up the next morning with a green haze covering it and everything else on the street. This is the condition we're dealing with and why we got this air purifier. I have to say, since using this, we have slept soundly and wake up feeling refreshed. It is a very noticeable difference. Now on to the details about this machine. It's a great purifier. it's pretty large (almost three feet high and about 1.5 feet wide), so it takes up some real estate. You need to leave lots of room around it to breathe, so you're not stuffing this in a corner or under a table. That being said, it's an attractive machine, so at least it doesn't look like a small air conditioner is plopped in your room. It has a lot of features and is easy to set up and get running. Simply open the case (it's attached with magnets so it's easy) install the filter (it's 2 inches thick!), and hit the on button to start the magic. It has an option to ionize the air (I use this) which will add some ions to the air making particulate matter stick better to the filter. All the controls are on the top of the machine and you have four different fan speeds (it's pretty quiet too), and the option to turn the light panel off. If you try to sleep with the lights on it's very bright, but hitting the power button twice runs it without the lights. There's also an indicator for when you should change the filter. From what I can tell, this is based on the time the unit is run, there doesn't seem to be a sensor on the filter. There's an option to run it for a timed amount (like a sleep timer), and there's also an LED ring around the power button that tells you the level of particulates in the air. It's red when their high, yellow for medium, and blue for clear. The machine uses an IR sensor on the side to determine particulate level. You have to keep an eye on this as it may get dirty if a lot of dust settles on it and the manual says to simply use a cotton swab to clean it on occasion. Finally, there's an option to run it on AUTO. This is where it becomes a very smart machine. It uses the results of the sensor and adjusts the speed of the fan accordingly to clear the air. It'll run on high (3/3) until the particulates reduce to yellow, then it will switch down to med or low accordingly. There's a fourth speed (Turbo) which is used for large rooms or if you're trying to clean a room quickly. I don't run this all day so I'll usually run it on T for an hour before we go to bed then drop it to medium. The fan noise presents with a very nice white noise and we've enjoyed sleeping with it in the room.

The Alen BreatheSmart Classic Air Purifier runs constantly. It is too noisy to be placed in a bedroom where I had it before returning it. The red light stays on most of the time which indicates poor air quality so in my mind, it is not doing its job. I do not recommend this model.

The air purifier operates well. It has kept the dust at a minimum. My wife use to dust every other day. Now she dust every other week. It runs 24/7 on auto mode and runs quietly especially at night.

It took the stale odor out of the air within the Townhouse basement that I moved into. I can definitely tell the air quality difference when I turned it off.

I had does some issues with my credit card and my personal credit card and also the Home Depot credit card and the purchase of this particular item I called into your customer service and received some help from your specialist in customer service. I was I would like to make sure that the person that I dealt with gets appropriate recognition for his excellent excellent Performance at his job and help me with resolution of my issue on credit cards get them straightened away the way it should be and because of the way that I had actually ordered things and problems that I had with the credit cards Home Depot credit card sign such as some no problem with Home Depot and shut off, but I did have issues with the card Because I was ordering online and of course it required that I have the CVS code security code which had been rubbed off I couldn’t Tom couldn’t see it so I wanted to make the charge in order to get a discount on the particular card first time you said, etc. and resolve a couple other clerical issues that either I screwed up or I didn’t understand I don’t know but this young gentleman Did me well I poured his heart out to really make sure no one was John straighten the way quickly correctly and he deserves recognition. He’s the kind of person that when you want it when you call in and you asked for help you get help somebody that knows what they’re doing, someone that can also do what needs to be done and he surely was that gentleman no, I understand that he works for Benjamin Montgomer and I would like to make sure his boss is aware of the fact of his performance. It was excellent I believe his name was either Sheri or Tom but I just want to make sure that he gets appropriate recognition for very very good service. Very efficient service very well Customer oriented service. Efficient, quiet, attractive and very effective! I buying a second one.

We highly recommend this air purifier. We noticed a huge difference in our air quality within hours. We are being pulverized by wildfire smoke in SW Montana, and this product has made our house a smoke free, fresh air zone. Requires a replacement filter subscription for the lifetime warranty, seems worth it to have clean air to breathe.

Unit was easy to get set up and is really quiet for being in my great room. It took about 24 hours for it to get my air quality good and now is working like a charm. I have alot of allergy problems and was especially having issues in my own home. Now I am having no congestion issues or sneezing which is great! This was well worth the investment.

It is super! Not only is it quiet, not large and overbearing, but it moves the air, so that we can feel that is being effective. It was worth a high rating in Consumer Reports!!!

Read great reviews about the product sk decided to give it a try as we were getting a dog and I wanted to combat the natural odor/dander. No complaints so far (appx 2 months) and the auto setting is really beneficial. It also helps with the food smell in the house when cooking (we have an open concept style).

Very concerned with the amount of dust in my home. Always, waking up with stuffy sinus and a terrible cough. I have noticed a significant difference in air quality and dust problem is more manageable. Very quiet machine and easy to adjust fan speed when i want to watch TV or talk on the phone. Easy to move, because it's light weight, to other rooms if needed. I have recommended this item to all my family members.

Only on second day but my wife says she can tell a difference already in the air. I am extremely happy with the packaging of the product. I've rec'd many items shipped and this is undoubtedly the best packaging ever. You could drop it out of a moving truck and it would not be damaged. Kudos to the designer(s).
