Snapped 1st Use
This head of this tool snapped off after I began making the first hole in fairly fibrous soil. It guess there were weld marks, but I could hardly see them. I'm taking it back.

    broke on 1st use
Wasnt dogging aggreaive or anything crazy. Pushed in soil to cut top layer of grass for some aprinkler repair. Handle completly seprated from the face of spade. No more than 1 spot weld. Not worth the 4 dollars it cost

Broke as soon as I put it in the dirt. The single spot weld holding on the blade is not nearly durable enough for a tool like this. Cheap so I wasn't too upset, but it's useless if it breaks that quickly.

This trowel looks like it means business, and I believe it will be one of the best tools I have owned. I have had it about 2 weeks, and although I haven't had a chance to use it a whole lot yet, I am pleased with the length and weight in my hand, the angle of the blade to the handle, and especially the way the blade and handle are joined. The "neck" seems very sturdy and much better quality than others I own. The engraved planting depth markers and hole for attaching a hanging loop are also thoughtful touches. I am well pleased.:)

After breaking many hand shovels we found this one the strength and durability of this one is second to none the spade is good thick steel and the 3 1/2 inch measuring takes the guess work out of planting the handle did seem a little bulky for small hands and may take some getting use to but overall size quality and performance is great for transplanting indoors or out

I received the hand transplanter to test for Home Depot and it does as advertised! A bit difficult to write a long review of a hand shovel. It shovels the dirt! My wife is the primary user and she says that it seems sturdy and strong. She also commented that it isn't too heavy and she has no issue using it for an extended period of time. All in all, I would recommend this item.

This is a well made garden tool. It has a nice shape and weight. I am fine with the handle but my wife thinks it should be a little more contoured to fit smaller hands. It is sharp so it digs well in the soil, but has a small spade which means you can not move a lot of soil with this tool. Having a hole in the handle for hanging or for a strap is a nice touch. The spade has measurements on it which are nice - as long as you keep the tool clean so you can see them. This tool is reasonably priced and seems to be well worth the price.

        Nice Hand Transplanter
I wear out alot of hand trowels. I have rocky soil here and constantly chip and damage my tools with extended use. This Ames hand transplanter with a wood handle is very sturdy and sharp. Very well designed. I feel that this tool will last a very long time. The design is nice and the weight is good. I would recommend this tool for any gardener. Happy Gardening.
