My Favorite Paint!
I always use Behr Marquee paint. I've tried many other paints and I find I like this one the best. This is the first time I've used the flat ceiling paint. It went on easily with one coat coverage. I had no drips on splatters which I've found with other ceiling paints in the past. I decided to paint my walls and ceiling the same color due to too being 65 and having shoulder issues. I did the walls in Celestial Light Matte. Edging was so easy. One coat ceilings and walls. Made a tough job much easier. I love the results! You can see pictures of walls in my review on the matte wall paint. I recommend you buy this paint!

We have used many ceiling paints over the years in our restoration business and this paint is amazing. It covers in 1 coat reducing labor costs. It may cost more then other ceiling paints but it performs so much better and is worth the added expense. Highly recommend.

The paint covers well. It does get a little difficult to tell where you've already painted but the finished result is nice. In some types of lighting I can see a few places where coverage wasn't as solid as I'd have liked it to have been, but you really have to be looking for it to notice. Overall, I recommend the product!

    Hello Jay,
Thanks for taking the time to review our White Ceiling Flat Interior Paint and Primer in One. I’m sorry to hear your ceiling was still blotchy after 3 coats. I know how frustrating that experience can be, and I assure you it’s not the one we want any of our customers to have. This product is designed to cover 300-400 sq. ft. per gallon. Porous surfaces and underapplication can lead to additional coats. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer care team. Best, Roxana N. Behr

Product dries to fast on the ceiling and leaves lap Marks even with the best rollers. After 2 coats myself I hired a professional painter who heavy rolled 2 more coats on and there are still lap marks. This product also has a sheen to it and is not a dead flat.I will go back to using the 2 gallon behr flat for the rest of the house.

Hi Junk, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the coating was drying too fast and resulted in roller marks. If this happens again, you have the option of adding 4 oz. of water per gallon to slow down the dry time. Applying another coat should even out the finish. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance, our customer care team is happy to help you! -Giovanna Behr

The only marguee paint I didn't love, it's not white
I use behr marguee exclusively and love it, however their ceiling paint isn't white! The coverage seemed fine but it's grey, I had used their ultra premium ceiling paint, prior to marquee having ceiling paint, which is white but covers poorly so went for the marguee and they are different colors, it darkens a room. I use marguee an walls and love it.

I will never buy any other paint, Behr Marquee is the absolute best! We are redecorating our living room after twenty years, and the room is huge. Behr Marquee is primer and one coat paint - I would never use anything else on that room. If I had to give that room two coats, I would have died. This paint goes on thick and smooth and dries quickly; it is also low odor. I can't tell you how happy I am with my freshly painted ceiling and all my beautiful walls. I have bought this paint before and will never buy anything else but Behr Marquee!

I absolutely would not recommend Behr Marquee Paint and Primer in One. It doesn’t matter the color and the sheen I used was flat. As soon as I finished painting a wall (previously painted over a year prior with a competitor brand, cleaned and properly prepped), the Behr paint began to bubble in small areas. I tried to pop the bubbles with a sharp object to sand down after they dried but they wouldn’t pop. Instead I had to slightly drag the sharp object down through the bubble as the paint layers simply started to lift off the wall. In less than 2 hours BUBBLES WERE EVERYWHERE, some as large as my hand. Leaving it overnight, the paint never really seemed to dry, instead it was stretchy and loose. It had to be completely removed by lifting and pulling. 6 months later thinking that this was a fluke (bad mix, somehow user error, the previous paint brand), I again bought this brand. Painting 3 large rooms without any obvious problems, 5 days later I didn’t care for the color. I then purchased the 5 gal bulk of this product (same sheen, different color). 1 week later when examining the work, I notice a couple of drip spots that needed to be scrapped, it wouldn’t scrape - but instead PEELED taking the 4 layers of paint off the wall. Whatever is causing this must be why the paint when dried looks inferior to other brands. After searching Behr and bubbles online, apparently I am not the only person to have experienced this. Unfortunately instead of being ahead of an already extended deadline, I have 3 days to completely scrape this paint off the walls in 3 very large rooms and repaint. If you are reading this review, I hope it is before, not after you have a problem with this product. 6/22/19 kla.

Hi Kla, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the bubbles on your wall. It is not normal for the coating to bubble this way or not being able to sand them off. Typically, you can sand off the coating after 24 hours. The paint takes 30 days to fully cure and can be sensitive until then. I bought 2 gallons of Behr Marquis to paint my bathroom. I painted the ceiling semi-gloss pure white. I painted the walls semi-gloss almond butter. This paint was used to paint over top of a competitor's paint that had been successfully adhered to the walls for years. We wiped down the walls before painting. I painted 2 coats of this paint. The first coat just didn't quite cover up the old paint. We taped off the ceilings and the base boards with painter's tape. When we went to peel off the painters tape, it started peeling this paint off of the wall with it. I used a utility knife to go around all of the edging but still managed to pull sheets of this paint off of the wall in places. Very disappointed especially paying the extra premium in price for this paint.

          Hi Jim,

Thank you for reviewing our paint. I'm sorry to hear that the paint peeled off your bathroom walls when you removed the painters tape! To fix the finish, I recommend lightly sanding the loose paint off the walls, scuff sanding the previous coating, wiping the surface down to remove the sanding dust, then touching up with more paint. If you need to tape off your ceiling and baseboards again, we recommend removing the tape at a 45 degree angle while the paint is still wet to prevent the coating from pulling up again. For further assistance with your project, please feel free to reach out to us directly. - Sara Behr

0 stars. paint bubbles and adds to the workload
fresh paint shaken right off the shelf on new sheetrock and applied properly..... bubbles and peeled right off. both HD and behr said new sheetrock is very porous and I should've used primer first. well that still doesn't explain why it flakes off after a few days. and porous would have absorbed into the sheetrock and I would have been delighted to put another coat instead of scraping it all off sanding it only to go right back to the competitors... Hi improving,

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the bubbling and peeling on your ceiling! To fix the finish and prevent this from happening again, I recommend lightly sanding the loose paint from the surface, making sure the new sheetrock is clean and dry, then touching up with more paint (or applying a full coat if this is happening to most of the surface). For further assistance with your project, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr

I used the 1-Coat Hide Tinted to White Lie Interior Ceiling Paint by Behr on a bit of my kitchen ceiling that was starting to show its ages with stains in many spots. First thing I noticed was the can itself was super heavy, I attribute this to the amount of pigment in the pain. It is a very thick paint and the weight is most likely due to the pigments and the ability to hide stains. When using it, I was able to hide some stains with one coat and liked the overall product. I did think it is not a 5 star in that being that thick its harder to work with, also the "pure white that I used was a dull version of while when dried, even for a flat finish. This finish could have been my batch but I would opt to try a bright white version if they had one.

I am 61 years old and this is the worst paint I have ever used. I didn't use the ceiling paint but had to leave a comment here because apparently Home Depot lists every color they can make individually. I should have known better when the young lady told me the one coat guarantee doesn't apply to lighter colors but that was after she had already mixed it. I have a 12 x 14 master bedroom, with two windows, two doors and a closet. The closet is white. The ceiling is white and one gallon wouldn't cover the walls and this is covering yellow with a lighter yellow. I am disgusted with this paint and will never buy Behr again, after I have to go get the second gallon to paint a small bedroom. The pictures are after the first gallon. This is absolutely ridiculous. Their guarantee means nothing. Who paints a small bedroom a dark color ?

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you did not get coverage in one coat. Our Marquee interior paint should cover in one coat when tinted to one of the one-coat colors (over 1,000 light and dark colors) and going over a previously painted surface. Do not buy this paint unless you want grey satin sheen ceilings. I bought a gallon of this paint after having problems with streaking using my usual Behr Premium Plus ultra pure white 558 interior ceiling flat though the color was bright & sheen was dead flat. I have used Marquee wall paint & liked it so I bought their ceiling flat pure white paint. Should have noted it is not ultra pure white because it's a dingy light gray when dry. The color choice is my fault but I can't imagine why they use a darker color than Behr's other ceiling paints which then requires re-cutting in with a trim brush around the ceiling perimeter because of the sharp contrast in color. The Marquee is sold as ceiling flat as the other Behr paints are but the Marquee is actually somewhere between eggshell & satin in sheen. See pictures of color contrast & sheen.

1 GALLON, 1- COAT HIDE TINTED TO WHITE CAMEO INTERIOR CEILING PAINT BEHR MARQUEE CEILING FLAT ONE COAT HIDE GUARANTEED Is what I used on my textured drywall kitchen ceiling. I last painted this ceiling 8 years ago. You must clean the ceiling of any dirt, dust or grease. Any water stains must be coated before applying topcoat. I used a heavy nap roller because of the Texture and the final result was great

If you need a quality white ceiling paint with stain hiding ability this is the one to get. After having a recent roof leak which stained our upstairs ceiling with unsightly stains I researched and sought the best stain hiding paint and found that Home Depot's Behr Marquee paint was one of the highest rated ceiling paints rated by Consumers Reports. Ordered this paint from Home Depot and pre-coated the stain with initial spot coat allowing it to dry for a few days before undertaking the ceiling painting project. Initial coat went on easily and took note the initial coat was dry to the touch almost a hour after it's application. Waited a whole day just to play it safe and proceeded. All I can say is....WOW! Definitely has stain hiding power. Kind of pricey but at the end of the day do you really want to gamble, go with a cheaper grade of paint and risk having to do over? This is a very good ceiling paint!

Horrible paint. We decided to use HD's "best" paint for our bedroom ceiling. What a mistake. Here's how it DOESN'T live up to it's claims: IT ISN'T WHITE - okay, it's kind of a dull greyish white, but "pure white?" Hardly. How do I know? Since I had to repaint the ceiling (all 285 square feet of it), I used an almost full can of Behr Premium Plus (not Ultra) flat Ultra Pure White. The difference between the two paints is ridiculous. The much less expensive paint is much, much whiter and brighter. See the pic - the edges are the Marquee paint, the much whiter part is my test patch of Premium Plus. IT ISN'T FLAT - once dry, this paint has a noticeable sheen, which makes every little flaw on the ceiling stand out. It also leads to obvious roller marks, much more than I've ever seen on a wall or ceiling. The cheaper Behr paint has almost no roller marks and makes the ceiling look much more uniform. IT ISN'T LOW ODOR - The smell is pretty strong. We even aired out the bedroom on a day when the temps were in the 30s, and the smell still lasted for 4 days. The cheaper Behr paint, while it has a slight odor, is much easier to live with. Overall, a total waste of money. "One coat?" Not a chance. Fortunately, I already had the other paint at home. Still, for the cost of the two gallons, I could have bought one gallon of Benjamin Moore Regal, which I know does a great job. I also would have saved hours of doing the work over again. The only upside is I got this on sale for $10 off. Still, that's $28 wasted. I'll probably go elsewhere for the wall paint.

                    Hello DoItYourselfer745,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you ran into so many issues with your Marquee Stain-Blocking Paint and Primer Ceiling Paint. Our Interior Marquee Ceiling paint should cover in one coat, so it's odd that it didn't give you the coverage you were expecting. Porous surfaces may need more than one coat to give you a uniform finish. Our Marquee paint may have a slightly different sheen and finishing color than our odor lines because it's formulated differently. However, the sheen should reduce as the paint dries and cures. We recommend having proper ventilation during and after application to help minimize the paint odor in your room. Introducing fans in the space will also help with any lingering odor. To help reduce any roller or brush marks on your surface, I would suggest maintaining a wet edge on your application tool while blending all start and stop points.
I am glad you were able to complete your project using our Premium Plus paint. Customer satisfaction is important to us. So, please don't hesitate to contact us directly if you need further assistance or have any other questions. Our Customer Care team would be happy to help! Have a great day! –Joanna Behr

The paint went on smoothly and covered pretty well. On certain light I think I see a hint of the darker color underneath, so I'm considering redoing it. I'm not sure anyone else would notice.
