I was sold this and told it would dry clear. Well…. It goes on yellow and remains yellow. I used this on western red cedar premium wood which is beautiful wood and wanted it to remain the same reds and whites. When applied it has turned the reds to orange and the whites to yellow. Spoke to Behr and they were apologetic and confirmed it would leave an amber tint. Even though the can says clear. Now I’m mad

I make a lot of outdoor furniture and have used ever imaginable finish from water based to oil based. This product is by far the best I have used and while it goes on a bit yellow it does not stay yellow. Clear and beautiful!

I was really nervous about doing a fence stain and seal on my brand new fence because I’ve never done it before, but I just couldn’t believe the quality that we were able to achieve using an airless sprayer to apply the sealant with. It’s very consistent and even a beginner can do it. I would not do it with a brush or roller though because the airless sprayer is just so easy. A contractor wanted $1900 to stain and seal the new fence, and we bought all of the stain/sealer, and bought a Graco professional airless sprayer and spent half as much as the contractor wanted, and we still have a sprayer to do other projects with.

It was supposed to be a clear coat natural finish.... looked maize yellow. Not happy

The product color Clear 400 IS NOT CLEAR!!!! It's yellow. My husband bought it to waterproof two gray outdoor cabinets. They were a beautiful shade of gray. Now they are so ugly, I'm going to need to replace or resurface them. Look at the photos.

Surprised how well this stain worked on a 15 year old redwood deck and Pergola.

We stained our 6 month old new deck with Behr semi transparent stain in may of 2023 according to their recommendations and procedures yet it has blotched, washed away and bleached out in less than 3 months this is unacceptable for a major brand such as Behr and I would not recommend using it until they address these issues or pull the product from their shelves.

The stain was great but the BEHR brand tear resistant exterior use pads were garbage. Can’t even get on the BEHR site to make a complaint. $7.48 plus tax each and I’ve gone through TEN of them just on a portion of my fence. Wouldn’t mind hearing back from you BEHR! Maybe some replacement pads would help.

The color of your Cedartone semi-transparent stain is not as red as years ago.

Beautiful color and sealer My deck was in pretty rough shape due to my negligence. I used this and find myself peaking through my house blinds at all hours just to get another look at it.

If you want yellow wood this is perfect. I wanted natural colored wood but this transparent stain has UV blocker that is VERY yellow and will dry just like it looks wet.

Super easy to work with! My only advice would be, if multiple people are helping with your project, have them all use the same tool to apply the stain. We tried a foam roller, a paint brush, and the Behr pad. All different results. Had to go over the deck again with the pad since that gave us the best finish

Nice selection of colors. Went on nice. Water beading up. Just applied. Hope the finish lasts a decent amount of time. Used semi transparent and the natural wood shows through nicely on a 12 year old deck.

Absolutely disappointed. Total waste of time and money. Curious if it was a bad batch. Never had issues like this. Some areas looked yellow, other areas looked like nothing was even applied.

Not sure why this is called clear penetrating oil with an enormous amount of yellow in it. Highly disappointing as I now have to rebuild this barn door and start over.

The product itself is good quality and applies well. My issue is that I had my fence stained with Behr ST-533 acrylic based stain and sealer. I wanted to use an oil base for my new deck so I bought the ST-533 penetrating oil product. Once applied, the colors different. I would expect a little difference due to the product base ingredient but this is no where close. I had prepped the deck per instructions using the Behr All-in-One Wood and Deck Cleaner and let dry several days prior to staining.

We had a new 6 month old deck. Decided to go with a semi dark oil based stain and sealer to adequately protect our deck from the Florida weather elements. The product went on very smoothly and evenly. Dried fast. 2 coats. The color looks fantastic. Clean up was easy.

I purchased this to refinish a older swing chair. It was all sanded down to raw wood. I opened the transparent clear can, oil base. It has a yellow tin, it was shaken at the store and was stirred also. I followed the directions, I am a contractor so every product has a little different application. Once this project was completed no runs but it has a yellowish tin? Says clear, transparent on the can? Would not recommend this product at all. Yes it was for exterior applications.

Spectacular application and color….although “clear” it really made the fence pop.

Applied after power washing. Started applying with brush and pad which went very slow. Purchased a $129 Wagner sprayer....it went quick. I don't usually use oil based products.....but glad I did. I am extremely happy with the results after 1 coat. The wood was about 18 months old, wanted to insure it had dried out. The pic is before and after.

Easy to apply. Looks great. I used on a deck over 30 years old and it looks amazing.

I applied this product in about 3 hours on this wall. It was a 8ft x 16ft wall front and back, the wood was 1"x4"x8ft fur strips. I sanded every board not so thorough with an orbital sander and 120 grit. Sanding was about 3 hours as well. I used about 14 pads. The result was amazing. I am going to continue to use this on the rest of my deck as I continue to renovate it. One project at a time. Water doesn't peirce through rock with sheer force, but with persistence.

behr deck stain is easy to apy and costs in one stroke

to all the people complaining about it turning their surfaces a mustard yellow... it blatantly says to test it on an inconspicuous spot before full application. additionally you need to clean your deck first.. i used the behr 63 deck cleaner(oxalic acid based) which works amazingly. again, people expecting a "transparent" finish are used to seeing thompsons water seal or something similar- which is not made for wood but is 100% clear. thompsons is a masonry product which WILL 100% seal your deck, but additionally adds a magnifying lens style coat on top which amplifies the suns rays. so the thompsons WILL absolutely waterproof your surface but it harms the wood in the long-run. this product here is a PENETRATING OIL. it helps replenish the natural waterproofing oils a wood may have had while alive. yes it turns yellow, but the woodgrain pops like crazy. ALWAYS look for a penetrating oil without any sealer involved.

Purchased this product for our badly worn deck. I purchased the oil by accident but after speaking with a Home Depot employee we concluded that the oil will be better for our harsh weather. We had stained the deck last summer, with a different brand, and it didnt make it a year. I cleaned the deck well, pressure washed and applied this oil. It worked great and very easy to use!

Goes on really real. Takes 24 hrs to seep in completely which is a little to long for me. But the results are beautiful.

I am actually staining over a five year old stain an seal. I was afraid it wasn’t going to stain over but it is doing a amazing job.

Went on smoothly, covered beautifully and the color was beautiful. Will buy it again.

I did half my deck one day and it looked great. I did the other half of my deck a few days later - and it came out yellow! I’m so confused and disappointed. Will need to return.
