I was really nervous about doing a fence stain and seal on my brand new fence because I’ve never done it before, but I just couldn’t believe the quality that we were able to achieve using an airless sprayer to apply the sealant with. It’s very consistent and even a beginner can do it. I would not do it with a brush or roller though because the airless sprayer is just so easy. A contractor wanted $1900 to stain and seal the new fence, and we bought all of the stain/sealer, and bought a Graco professional airless sprayer and spent half as much as the contractor wanted, and we still have a sprayer to do other projects with.

Within 3 months stain has washed away
We stained our 6 month old new deck with Behr semi transparent stain in may of 2023 according to their recommendations and procedures yet
it has blotched, washed away and bleached out in less than 3 months this is unacceptable for a major brand such as Behr and I would not recommend
using it until they address these issues or pull the product from their shelves.

Our Semi-Transparent Penetrating Oil Waterproofing Stain & Sealer should provide a year lifespan and can be maintained annually based on the wearing and usage. To fix the finish, I recommend cleaning the surface with soap and water using a stiff bristle broom or brush. Once clean and dry, apply a thin coat following the recommended spread rate. The stain was great but the BEHR brand tear resistant exterior use pads were garbage. Can’t even get on the BEHR site to make a complaint. $7.48 plus tax each and I’ve gone through TEN of them just on a portion of my fence. Wouldn’t mind hearing back from you BEHR! Maybe some replacement pads would help.

The color of your Cedartone semi-transparent stain is not as red as years ago.

Beautiful color and sealer My deck was in pretty rough shape due to my negligence. I used this and find myself peaking through my house blinds at all hours just to get another look at it.

So far so good.
Nice selection of colors. Went on nice. Water beading up. Just applied. Hope the finish lasts a decent amount of time. Used semi transparent and the natural wood shows through nicely on a 12 year old deck.

Natural Cedartone Color Difference
The product itself is good quality and applies well. My issue is that I had my fence stained with Behr ST-533 acrylic based stain and sealer. I wanted to use an oil base for my new deck so I bought the ST-533 penetrating oil product. Once applied, the colors different. I would expect a little difference due to the product base ingredient but this is no where close. I had prepped the deck per instructions using the Behr All-in-One Wood and Deck Cleaner and let dry several days prior to staining.

Worked great!
I applied this product in about 3 hours on this wall. It was a 8ft x 16ft wall front and back, the wood was 1"x4"x8ft fur strips. I sanded every board not so thorough with an orbital sander and 120 grit. Sanding was about 3 hours as well. I used about 14 pads. The result was amazing. I am going to continue to use this on the rest of my deck as I continue to renovate it. One project at a time. Water doesn't peirce through rock with sheer force, but with persistence.
