Good just wish it came with bolts to Mount

It's a vise and works like one. I mean really, what can you say about a vise?

Excellent product for the work. It would be nicer if the fixing bolts and nuts are provided. I also purchased the soft clamp additive for surface protection.

It took 3 people to help me find the vise in the store. The aisles should be numbered consistently, both from the major front aisle and the middle aisle. My husband loves the vise.

I have not done more than sharpen mower blades with it so far. I like that it is made with ductile steel. It says "Lifetime Warranty" on the box, but 1 year on the HD website. I would just as soon they didn't put a pivot on here, and would recommend that people observe the limits of travel before mounting it to their workbench. I added a good amount of grease on both ends of the screw shaft before mounting.

There’s a drag as I turning the shaft to tight or loose. The shaft thread is dry and it’s too hard to turn.

It is a very good vise. It either should have come with screws/bolts or should have said it didn't, so ... another trip to Home Depot it was. Other than that, so far, so good.

I installed one of these at my last house in Oregon and left it there as a fixture. I couldn’t do without one on my new bench in Texas. They’re the best.

Perfect size and really well built.

I've had this vise for many years and has held material beyond my expectations while fully open. Down side is it's difficult to find replacement jaws for the 6" model. Those complaining it broke while using it like a press, buy a press that's designed to perform that kind of work.

This poor design does not have the fix jaw extend beyond base preventing user from clamping large items vertically beyond edge of mounting surface. A shim of about 0.25" would provide sufficient clearance. Also, swivel base binds easily and would benefit from a better finish on the mating surfaces. Finally, rough finish on the three mounting holes (of the base flange) needed deburring to allow proper seating of mounting bolts.

I am using this BESSEY 4 in. Heavy-Duty Bench Vise with Swivel Base as a vise to hold material for milling and drilling. So far it has far exceeded my expectations. I have used various metal and wood vises since the 1960's. Some were very well made, others never should have been made available to the public or to people due to the poor quality. For some of my jobs I attach "soft" jaws to protect the surfaces of the material I am working on. For most jobs I simply clamp the object in this vise and go right to work on it. I am happy to tell you there is NO PLAY after the swivel base is tightened. Many of the vises I have worked with in the past had tremendous play and made it quite challenging to secure the material in a safe, accurate and workable manner. Not so with this vise...it gets the job done and gets it done well! This vise is somewhat heavy duty...but not "heavy duty" like a 6"-10" monster vise that some shops have and that can cost upwards of $300. I will be totally honest with you...we moved last year so I sold most of the stuff in my workshop at an auction. I had to purchase a new vice for our new location. Now I regret not purchasing a vise of this quality and price 10 years ago. For the price-to-quality, you simply cannot go wrong with this item. If the 4 inch jaws are wide enough for you and for the jobs you foresee in the future, no need to look any further...this one will get the job done and get it down well. It is a genuine heavy duty 4" vise that has impressed a person that has been doing shop work on and off for 50 years. Have a great day everyone!

Main threads were very rough and spring loaded washer holding tension on threads made a grinding sound like spring was gouging the cast metal. May have been missing a washer.

Heavy duty, durable, and well made. The swivel base makes using the vise that much more flexible. I especially like being able to secure the swivel base on both sides for added stability.
