A:  This accessory is 6" and attaches magnetically. So it fits your 5" vice. I use it for my 4" and works perfect. You can center it or if needed, place the edge flush with the vice jaws. Very useful.

A:  This is one size fits all. They are about 5 1/2" long and the magnets on the back are set apart 3", so that's why the description says 3-6 inches. My vise is 5", so these hang over the ends (ever so slightly) which doesn't interfere with anything I've done.

A:  Dave, this set can be used on a 3 to 6 inch vise jaw. So your 5 inch will work these just right.

A:  The jaws on my vise are 6-inches wide. The Non-Marring inserts that I received are 5-1/2 inches wide. They should work fine, or you can cut 1/4-inch from each side.

A:  The product is 5.5 actual inches. There may be a little overhang on youre vise jaws depending on the width of youre vice. Not a problem. It still does the job.

A:  This item only comes 5 1/2" wide. It will work on VISES that are 3 to 6 inches wide.

A:  Actual width of the pads is 5-1/2". I use them on a 4" vise, just let them overhang each side. Rather than cutting them to fit, I shift them left or right as needed to utilize the various molded-in angled grip channels. The magnets on the jaw-side (2 per pad) are each about 1-1/4" left & right of center, so there's plenty of leeway to move the pads as any given use may necessitate.

A:  The overall length of the non-marring vise jaw is 5 1/2 inches. The dimension to the outer edges of magnets (silver spots in photo) are approximately 3".

A:  They will hold a small 1/4 inch and larger. The product is made from a very durable but very soft so it will really hold various sizes. So if you want to hold something smaller than 1/4 just place it in the center of the non groove section and it will hold it just fine.

                                        Disappointing
Use them in a vise to work on some metal objects. After less than a year, when tightening the vise, the rubber bumpers just literally disintegrated. Not that it is a big dollar item, but it was very inconvenient for it to just self destruct like that in that moment.

It’s a little wider than my vise jaws so if I need just a bit of a grip on the side I have to slide the soft jaws over but they work great.

crumbled like a piece of cheese the first time I used it. Installed on the vice, went to tighten it down and a minimal amount of pressure caused this product to disintegrate. Total waste of money.

                                            Not for a four-inch vise.
These are ridiculously too wide. These are for a big vise, not a four-inch vise, especially a four-inch Bessey vise.

I had them for a limited time and haven’t used them often but their seem to be important when light grip is needed. I’m not sure how they will behave when so tight grip is needed. I like them you can easily fit them in place. No so great to remain in place in the process as they may need adjustments for them to remain in place until the needed grip is achieved.

The magnets are poorly placed so that these jaw pads do NOT contact the vise jaws without wobbling. They are ineffective for my 4" vise and will have to be discarded.

Great solution to an age old hobbyist and DIY'ers need to prevent marring clamped work. Can't tell you how many times I've fumbled around with my make-do .25" plywood shims. These puppies are magnetic, slightly soft, and have several diameters cast into them (one @ 45°) for firmly clamping round work. Got them on sale for $8.50; suggested MSRP of $16.50 seems kind of steep. The magnetic feature is a clever convenience. Work fine on my 4" vice (see image).

The first product of this type I tried was made by Olympia. I gave those pads just one star, as the magnets weren't recessed deeply enough into the pads, they protruded, which prevented the pads from sitting flat on the vise jaws, and also resulted in cracked or crushed magnets when I clamped an object tightly. I returned them, and bought these Bessey "vise jaw accessory" pads. They are better than the Olympia pads -- the magnets are set into the pads far enough that they don't stick out, preventing them from being crushed. However, there are two other issues: (a) On all of my small (3.5-in or 4-in) bench vises, the removable steel jaw-faces are NOT flush with the primary vise jaws -- they sit proud of the vise jaws by about an eighth of an inch. On these Bessey pads, the magnets are centered almost half an inch back from the inside corner of the pads. The result is that the magnets pull the pads into a slanted position...they don't rest flat on the jaws of the vise (see photo). They rock back and forth, so you have to readjust the pads manually and hold them as you tighten the vise -- inconvenient, irritating, and often imprecise. (b) One of the reasons I need a product like this is that I do work on my firearms and other items where I don't want to scratch of mar the surfaces. These pads can be flipped to provide grooved gripping surfaces for cylindrical or angled items. Doing so puts the magnets on the vertical rather than horizontal, and they now sit flush against the faces (rather than the edge) of the vise jaws, so the magnets hold the pads firmly and in the proper position. Great, that's nice. But the grooved surfaces are very thick...together, they are just shy of 1-1/4 inches thick. If your vise has a throat depth of 4 inches or less, these pads really cut down on the vise's capacity. However, these jaw-pads do work (if poorly), and they don't leave any marks on my wood-working projects, so I gave them two stars.
